Destination ARTS!
   Schedule of Events
 –

September 20, 21, & 22

MORE ART, MORE MUSIC, MORE EVENTS…

Destination ARTS! in Waynesboro, PA continues September 20 – 22 with three artist demonstrations, new musical performances, and the continuation of our children’s Scavenger Hunt for “Destination ARTS! Detectives”.  Featured musicians include the Eric and Kate Avey’s duo “Strung Tight” and their “acoustic goodness”, the contemporary duo “G@g” featuring Gillian Hollen and Garrett Smith, and the Wayne Band – Waynesboro’s own community concert band, under the directorship of Dan Deatrich.  Other musicians are being added, so check the website for up to the minute details.

But of course the core of Destination ARTS! is the art itself.  In all, there are over 1,000 pieces of art on display and for sale within a two-block radius in seven art galleries and eight storefronts on Main Street.  More than 100 artists are represented, and the exhibits feature paintings, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, photography, and fiber arts, all of which make great gift ideas for early holiday shopping.

As visitors walk down Main Street, they will encounter several surprises, such as illustrious artists who are visiting from the past, including the Dutch master Vincent van Gogh and French Impressionist artists Mary Cassatt and Berthe Morisot, all recreated on mannequins by area artists.

An initiative of the non-profit Arts Alliance of Greater Waynesboro (AAGW), Destination ARTS! continues every Friday 5–8 pm, Saturday 11 am– 6 pm, and Sunday 12 pm– 4 pm through October 27. All activities are open to the public and free of charge. More information is available at www.artsalliancegw.org or by emailing artsalliancegw@gmail.com.

Renfrew Museum and Park and Renfrew Institute offer a wide variety of cultural events and environmental programs. There are great hiking opportunities along the Appalachian Trail, apple and peach orchards, excellent restaurants and award-winning chocolate shops. Pen Mar Park, once a tourist destination that drew as many as 20,000 visitors a day to the area, is still majestic and offers stunning views and dancing on Sundays. The Arts Alliance of Greater Waynesboro looks forward to sharing the natural beauty and talent of the area with all who attend Destination ARTS!
