“Destination ARTS!” Gallery Events – Thursday, May 15 – Sunday, May 18

“Destination ARTS!” activities continue in Waynesboro with live music every weekend and events and artist demonstrations scheduled at Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op.  The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro and The Contemporary School of the Arts & Gallery will also be open with art and pottery for sale and art classes available.  All galleries are open each week from Thursday through Sunday.

For the second week in a row, Janie Moltrup will be in downtown Waynesboro, sharing her talents
with visitors to Gallery 50. Formerly the official photographer for the United
States Senate, Moltrup is scheduled to lead a printmaking workshop from 6:30 to
9:00 on the evening of Thursday, May 15. Participants in the class will be
making four watercolor cards and envelopes. The cost for Moltrup’s workshop is
$15 per person.

WineDoneThe month of May continues with yet another special edition of “Wine Down Friday!” Our new, ever-changing art show is open at Gallery 50, with paintings, photographs, prints, jewelry and more on display. Come try the wine and snacks, meet friends, view the art and enjoy the music!

The duo of Tim Gotwald on flute and Dan Dopkin on guitar will be setting the mood with their music beginning at 5:00 PM. Tim and Dan have appeared in Gallery 50 before and are sure to please again.

Co-Op members over at 42 West ARTS will continue their own take on “Wine Down Friday” as Patric Schlee performs on flute and drums between 5:00 and 8:00 p.m.

The next day at Gallery 50, well-known regional artist, Marti Yeager, will be conducting a demonstration. She’ll be painting in acrylics from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Artist Tom Tholen returns to 42 West ARTS on the afternoon of Saturday, May 17 to demonstrate toned graphite between the hours of 12:00 and 3:00.

Denny Bingaman will be back at 42 West Arts on Saturday. He has again planned to discuss the art of a bas relief using hardboard and epoxy clay with a bonded metal finish. Bingaman’s demonstration is scheduled to begin at 1:00 p.m.

Also at 1:00 p.m.Sue Matson’s much anticipated basket-making workshop will begin at 42 West Arts Co-Op. She’ll teach her class basic weaving skills while providing them with an understanding of basket construction. No experience is necessary. For more information, call 717-762-8394.
