“Destination ARTS!” Gallery Events – Thursday, June 19 – Sunday, June 22

Destination ARTS!” activities continue in Waynesboro with live music every weekend and events and artist demonstrations scheduled at Gallery 50, Gallery 20 East, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro and The Contemporary School of the Arts & Gallery. All galleries are open each week from Thursday through Sunday.

Continuing this week, artist Marjorie Tressler will provide live painting demonstrations inside of Gallery 50 on Thursday afternoons through August. Tressler is an alumnus of The Schuler School of Fine Arts in Baltimore, where she studied with fellow artists such as Ann Didusch Schuler and David Buckley Good. Her award-winning portraits have been featured in several solo shows, and her work is part of a permanent collection at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts.

Tressler’s continuing series of free sessions will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 on the afternoon of Thursday, June 19. Anyone with an interest in learning more about the old masters approach to painting is invited to participate. For more information, please call 717-762-6791.

“Wine Down Fridays” continue this week at Gallery 50, Gallery 20 East, 42 West ARTS Co-Op and The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. Wine and light refreshments will be served inside of each.This Friday will feature special events in several locations. Come downtown, try the wine and snacks, meet friends, view the art and enjoy the music! Then stay for dinner at one of the five downtown restaurants, each very different from the rest.

Cynthia Marie & Tim Franklin400Tim Franklin and Cynthia Marie are providing the music at Gallery 50 on Friday night. The duo met in Seattle and quickly discovered their shared interest in orchestral harmonies, strings and improvisations. They enjoy creating both expansive and intimate settings for songs and note chamber folk/pop contemporaries such as Joanna Newsom among their favorite artists. Franklin and Marie are set to start performing at 5:00.

This weekend marks a final opportunity to experience the “Surfaces” exhibit at Gallery 20 East, where projects completed by painter Ben McAfee, ceramic artist Joan Bontempo and creative media specialist Andrew Gehman have been on display for the past few weeks.

42 West Artists Co-Op

A Miniature and Small Works Show featuring a variety of work created by artists from across the Tri-State region continues at 42 West ARTS this week. Patric Schlee will entertain guests visiting the gallery as they enjoy oil paintings, watercolors, photography, clay and other works of art.

Saturday, June 21

42 West Arts Co-Op

Donna Bingaman 5 400Artist Donna Bingaman will be demonstrating oil painting techniques at the Co-Op on Saturday afternoon. A graduate of the Washington School of Art, Bingaman’s portraits have been exhibited at the Hagerstown Fine Art Museum and the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts. From 1:00 to 3:00, she will share her passion for capturing the personality of the people she paints with anyone who stops by the gallery at 42 West Main.

The Miniature and Small Works Show will continue through Saturday and Sunday, June 21 & 22.

Meanwhile, over at The Contemporary School of the Arts & Gallery, the oil paintings of Donna Bingaman and wildlife photography of her husband, Denny Bingaman, can be viewed during the entire month of June.
