Donna Bingaman Hosting Second Oil Painting Workshop

Still Life Oil Painting Workshop

For the second time this year, artist Donna Bingaman is inviting members of the community to learn the skill of oil painting as part of a three-week workshop in Waynesboro.

Still Life WorkshopBingaman’s first “Still Life Oil Painting” class is set for Saturday, July 12. This will be followed by sessions on Saturday, July 19 and Saturday, July 26. All classes will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at 42 West ARTS Co-Op, located at 42 West Main Street.

Bingaman’s previous “Still Life” workshop was offered at the co-op throughout the month of April.

She says that painters from all skill levels will have an opportunity to create their own oil paintings using arranged setups such as “Grapes and Red Wine,” “Porcelain Dolls” and “Silver Pot and Apples.” The workshop will use still life as a means to study light, which Bingaman considers an artist’s greatest gift.

Students who participate will paint from “warm” studio light on canvases, with an emphasis on composition, drawing and value. The purpose is to understand the difference between the two temperatures of light and the effect it has on color relationships.

The class is limited to eight people. A total fee for the three weeks is $60.00 per person.
