DestinationArts_poster_v6_600Destination ARTS!” activities continue in downtown Waynesboro this weekend. Six galleries will be open on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Gallery 50 Gallery 50

Located at 50 West Main Street, the largest of the galleries, Gallery 50, is filled with hundreds of pieces of art in many media. There is an extensive painting collection from numerous well know local and region artists in styles from cassic through impressionist to realistic and abstract. Other media include prints, photographs, jewelry, wooden items, books and ceramics.

SallyTruitGallery 20 East

Located at 20 East Main Street, The “Wild Things” exhibit will continue to be open throughout the weekend inside Gallery 20 East. “Wild Things” is a wonderfully whimsical and witty art exhibit to delight adults and children of all ages. Artist Sally Truitt of Lyons, Colorado reveals the secret life of cows and owls, and the dreams of friendly monsters. Eddie Keach Filemyr finds an exuberant jungle in our backyards, with her vivid and passionate paintings of flowers and vegetables. Michalina Eisenberg creates a whole new world with her charming hand made cloth dolls, characters in a comedy of imagination.

Located at 74 West Main Street, Our newest gallery is devoted to the work of eighteen photographers. It is in a recently renovated storefront at 74 West Main Street. If you have not stopped in, please do, for a wonderful experience. There are many remarkable, professional photographs offered for sale at very reasonable prices.

“42 West Arts Co-op” members

Located at 42 West Main Street, 42 West Co-Op is featuring the two exhibits, one is a collection of Abstracts while the other is a grouping of miniatures. Each exhibit is a collection of works from numerous artists. The Co-Op has an extremely wide variety of pieces in a wide array of media, paintings, prints, collage, fabric art, photographs, wind chimes, ceramics, sculpure, and more.

Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro

CerCenWayLocated at 13 South Church Street, The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro continues to be open to the public every weekend as one of the art galleries featured in Destination ARTS!  A wide variety of beautiful pottery is available for sale on Thursdays 1 – 4 pm, Fridays 5 – 8 pm, Saturdays 12 pm – 6 pm, and Sundays 1 – 4 pm.  For more information about the Center, classes, membership opportunities, and future plans, please email [email protected] or visit the web site.

The Contemporary School of the Arts and Gallery

Located at 10 East Main Street, The Contemporary School of the Arts and Gallery is an independently operated gallery and school. The CS&G is open during the Destination ARTS! hours with a display gallery of items for sale. They also offer art classes and after-school activities. Renfrew Museum & Park / Antietam Historical Association, 1010 East Main Street

7:00 PM – The Antietam Historical Society presents the next in its series of historic preservation lectures, “Archaeology in Historic Preservation,” by Scott Parker, President of Little Antietam, Inc.

Thursday, August 21

Gallery 50

1:00 – 4:00 PM – Marjorie Tressler returns to Gallery 50 this week to provide a painting demonstration at 1:30 on Thursday afternoon.

Slackwater3Renfrew Museum & Park

7:00 PM – Jon Ingels and Slackwater 3 Band performing rock ‘n’ rock and blues. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the performance behind the museum house.

Friday, August 22

Patrick McNameeCenter Square

5:00 – 8:00 PM – A “Macstravaganza” is planned to entertain audiences on Friday night. A line-up of musicians including Pat McNamee (tenor saxophone and clarinet), Erin McNamee (flute), Kelly West (French horn), Jessica McKinstry (flute), Valerie Merriman (piano), Andrew Sussman (piano) and Herm Hopple (bass) will arrive on Center Square in time to start playing from 5:00 to 8:00.

Patric SchleeDrums30042 West Arts Co-Op

5:00 – 8:00 PM – Music will also be available indoors on Friday night, as Patric Schlee plays flute and drums at 42 West ARTS Co-Op beginning at 5:00. Wine and light refreshments will be available for anyone entering the gallery.

Saturday, August 23

Pat Beard Weaving30042 West Arts Co-Op

1:00 – 4:00 PMPat Beard will be inside the co-op on Saturday afternoon, demonstrating the spinning and weaving techniques that she uses to create clothing, hats and scarves. A juried member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen and the Cumberland Valley Craft Guild, Beard has been working with yarn and fabrics since the age of 10. Each piece she creates is different, and the process will be on display between the hours of 1:00 and 4:00.

Brad MunnCenter Square

3:00 – 6:00Brad Munn, no stranger to the downtown music scene, will be playing his guitar and fiddle on Center Square from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. Fans of Brad’s former band, The Boro Boogie Pickers, or current ensemble, The Lowdown Grasskickers, will enjoy the opportunity to see him fly solo on Saturday.

Sunday, August 24

DrewAdamsCenter Square

1:00 – 4:00 PMDrew Adams makes a rare solo performance and his first appearance as part of “Destination ARTS!” A founding member of the band, Good for Nothing (later Dimestore Profit), Drew has since gone on to become the front-man of the highly popular Drew Adams Project, whose rock and roll harmonies can be heard throughout the four-state region on a regular basis. Drew’s music will fill the air on Center Square starting at 1:00, with the weekend of entertainment coming to a close at 4.

Jazz-Jeremy-Pelt-trumpet Renfrew Park & Museum

2:00 – 4:00 PM – Perennial favorite, jazz guitarist Paul Bollenback returns to Renfrew Institute’s annual jazz festival, which spotlights top professional artists each year. Paul will be joined by featured guests artists, Jeremy Pelt on trumpet, and Joe Locke on vibes. Joe last appeared at Renfrew’s Jazz Fest in 2003. The quintet is rounded out with Lorin Cohen on bass, and Jaimeo Brown on drums. The concert is followed by an informal question and answer period. Free and open to the public. Thursdays from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
Fridays from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Saturdays from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Sundays from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
