“Destination ARTS!” Gallery Events – Friday, January 2 – Sunday, January 4

HNY2015“Destination ARTS!” galleries will be closed on New Year’s Day, but they will reopen on Friday, January 2 to kick off another year of live music, special events and plenty of artwork in downtown Waynesboro.

Friday Night, January 2

WineDone“Wine Down Friday” receptions return with wine and light refreshments featured in Gallery 50, Gallery 20 East, 42 West ARTS Co-Op and The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro.

Strung Tight 2The popular duo known as Strung Tight will have the honor of being one of the first performers on Main Street in 2015. Eric and Kate Avey have been heard across the four-state region for the past several years, but on Friday night, they’ll bring their guitar, bass and harmonies to Gallery 20 East.

EricWengertWaynesboro-based college student, Eric Wengert, will stop by Gallery 50 while he’s home for the holidays. He and his ukulele will provide the entertainment at the reception held in the “Destination ARTS!” flagship gallery.

Both Strung Tight and Wengert’s sets of music are scheduled to start at 5:30 p.m.

Saturday, January 3

RodMeyerArtist Rod Meyer will be working with clay on the potters’ wheel inside of 42 West ARTS Co-Op on Saturday afternoon. A native of Oregon, Meyer strives to use simple elegance of form and pure color to create objects that are pleasing to look at, hold and ultimately use. The juried member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen can be seen in action between the hours of 1:00 and 3:00.

Donna Bingaman42 West ART Co-Op will also be the site of oil painting classes for three straight Saturdays beginning on January 10. Instructor Donna Bingaman is encouraging her students to bring a photo of a pet, loved one or landscape to use as an influence for their creations. The classes will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. For more information, call Bingaman at 717-762-8394.

HeatwolePointsTime is running out to experience David F. Heatwole’s “Points of Perception” three-dimensional paintings, which will remain on display at The Contemporary School of the Arts & Gallery for two more weeks.

“Destination ARTS!” currently features Gallery 50 (50 West Main Street), Gallery 20 East (20 East Main Street), 42 West ARTS Co-Op (42 West Main Street), The Contemporary School of the Arts & Gallery (10 East Main Street) and The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro (13 South Church Street).

All of the galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, fiber arts, sculpture, photographs, furniture and more. This weekend, they will be open on Friday from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., Saturday from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. and Sunday from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
