Adult Classes

Introductory and Orientation to Pottery at Mont Alto
Instructors James Smith and Tom McFarland will introduce you to basic handbuilding, sculpting and wheel throwing techniques on six consecutive Wed. evenings from 6:00 – 9:00 starting February 4 at Mont Alto, Room 008, General Studies Building, Penn State Mont Alto. Introductory to Throwing on The Wheel

A beginning class and orientation to Throwing on the Wheel at the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro, 13 South Church Street Waynesboro, PA 17268. The class meets for three Sunday afternoons March 1st, 8th, and 15th from 12:00 pm to 4:00 pm and Tuesdays, March 3rd and 10th in the evening. Tuition includes materials, weekend studio time, glazes and firings.  $200.00 per person. Corks and Clay Workshops
Create a Winter Wrap: January 13th or January 22nd
Get out of the cold and warm yourself up by making a Winter Wrap, a clay container designed to hold flowers, mail, receipts, pencils, tools, etc., with Trudy Gembe-Palughi from 6:00-8:00. BYOB and BYOS (Bring Your Own Snacks) $30.00 Must be 18.

Create a Mug: Friday, Feb 20 or Thursday, Feb 26

Warm your hands around the mug you just created with Heather Forberger. Creating unique “one of a kind” mugs using the slab technique you’ll be amazed at what the beautiful mug you will create during this two hour session. From 6:00-8:00. BYOB and BYOS (Bring Your Own Snacks) $30.00 Must be 18.

Private Group Workshops: The Ceramic Arts Center 13 South Church Street Waynesboro, PA

offers private Corks and Clay sessions for groups of 6-8. Great for team building, parties and anyone who wants to enjoy a fun time to learn and play in the mud with us. Contact: Mary Ashe-Mahr at [email protected]

Children’s Classes
Soap Dishes: January 17, 2015 – 1:00-3:00. The slab rolling technique will be done to achieve part of the project. Hand building will be done to finish the project. Students are encouraged to bring stamps or items they want to use as impressions. $25.00

Wall Art: February 21, 2015 – 1:00-3:00. Students will create a wall pocket. This will be done with the slab rolling technique and various hand-building efforts. Great for fine motor as we attach two pieces of clay to produce this task. Creativity will be encouraged, as students will have the opportunity to detail their own creation. $25.00
Fun Pots: March 28th, 2015 – 1:00 – 3:00. Examples include: monsters, ladybugs, bees, lion, and flowers. Various methods will be used during the creation process. Feet will be attached as the final task. $25.00
