“Destination ARTS!” Gallery Events – Thursday, January 15 – Sunday, January 18

DestinationArts_poster_v6_600“Destination ARTS!” activities continue in Waynesboro with special events and live music scheduled at Gallery 50, Gallery 20 East and 42 West ARTS Co-Op. The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro and The Contemporary School of the Arts & Gallery will also have art and pottery for sale and art classes available.

Marjorie TresslerMarjorie Tressler returns to Gallery 50 on Thursday afternoon to provide her visitors with a painting demonstration beginning at 1:00.

Donna Bingaman 5 400Donna Bingaman will take her turn leading a demonstration on Friday. The impressionist painter will work with oil at 42 West ARTS Co-Op between the hours of 12:00 and 2:00 p.m.

WineDone“Wine Down Friday” receptions, featuring wine and light refreshments, are scheduled from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gallery 50, Gallery 20 East, 42 West ARTS Co-Op and The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro.

Tim Gotwald and Dan DropkinThe duo of Tim Gotwald (flute and alto flute)  Dan Dropkin (guitar) are set to provide the entertainment during Gallery 50’s reception. They’ll start playing a selection of jazz standards at 5:30 p.m.

Patric SchleePatric Schlee will also be playing the flute (as well as drums) on Friday night. He can be heard at the 42 West ARTS Co-Op, and his start time is scheduled for 5:30 p.m.

Ed Beard
is slated to come to 42 West ARTS Co0Op on Saturday afternoon. After working with wood for the past 50 years, Beard now enjoys teaching children and adults about his passion. From 1:00 to 4:00, he will demonstrate the art of burning feathers and eagles onto wood.

One of the area’s most popular performers will make her highly anticipated return to Downtown Waynesboro on Sunday afternoon. Kerensa Gray attracted an audience to Center Square in August as part of “Destination ARTS!” Now, she’ll bring her jazzy vocals indoors for a special show at Gallery 20 East beginning at 2:00 p.m, accompanied by Beth Trez aon keyboard.

While listening to Gray perform, visitors can explore the “Through the Lens” exhibit of photographs, currently hanging in the east room of the gallery.

The inspirational work of a group of artists in the area (including Marjorie Tressler, Liz Hurley, Donna Mason and Eliane Ambrose) who call themselves “The Prometheans” is on display in the other half of Gallery 20 East.

These performances are supported in part by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.

Art of Rubbings Waynesboro ages 8-11 flyerThe Art of Textures Classes – with artists David F. Heatwole.
Students will learn how to make rubbings from various man-made and natural textured objects. Students will also make their own “rubbing plate” that can be used repeatedly for similar works of art. All supplies and materials are provided. Just wear old clothes and plan to make ART! David Heatwole is an 11th generation artisan who works from his home in Martinsburg, WV. This class is free of charge thanks to our generous sponsors.
