Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Through the Lens & Beyond, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more.  This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Wednesday, June 22, 2016 – FREE Oil Painting Classes: 12-3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Donna Bingaman will be offering free Donna BingamanPortraintpainting classes every Wednesday in June starting June 8. Students of all ability levels will learn how to paint in oil or acrylic, using color, values, and composition. Register at 42 West ARTS Co-Op or call 717-762-8394.

A graduate of the Washington School of Arts, Bingaman is a juried member of the Oil Painters of America and has won several awards for her work. In 2002, she was featured in a solo show at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown, MD. Her portraits are currently displayed in the Chambersburg Court House and Annex as well as in private collections.

Thursday, June 23, 2016 – Gallery Talks: 2 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, MarjorieInWindowWaynesboro, PA 17268. Curator and Director Marjorie Tressler will be starting a new series of gallery talks in Gallery 50 every Thursday. Each week will feature a discussion on the various regional and local artists featured in Gallery 50, including information on their background, latest works, and art genre. Tressler teaches art locally and has conducted classes at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, where her portraits were featured in a solo show in 1993. She is a former student of the Schuler School of Fine Arts and has studied with several nationally known and prominent local artists over the last 35 years. Tressler has been Gallery 50’s lead curator and director since 2013.

Friday, June 24, 2016 – Wine Down Friday: 5:30-8 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main WineDoneStreet, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Destination ARTS! will sponsor a musical performance for the general public for free in Gallery 50 this Friday. Each week, a member of the musical community is featured in an acoustic performance in the Gallery. Wine and light refreshments will be available.

Nick Andrew StaverFriday, June 24, 2016 – Summer in the Square: 5:30-8 p.m. – Center Square, Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Nick Andrew Staver will be bringing a new voice to the blues this Friday in Center Square. (Rain site will be Gallery 50, 50 West Main Street.) For more information, call 717-655-2915.

Staver is an award-winning singer-songwriter. Each of his songs defines its own character inside the autobiographical music. His performances are an intimate opportunity to capture a desired dose of rhythm and blues mixed into modern songwriting storylines.

Saturday, June 25, 2016 – Leather Handcrafting: 1-3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 Barb Peshkin 2West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. 42 West ARTS Co-Op member, Barb Peshkin, will be working in leather handcrafting medieval-style journals and sketch pads. Peshkin’s art focuses mostly on calligraphy and Medieval-style illumination. She also works in gouache paints and does leather-crafting. After working in the Tuscarora School District for 35 years, she retired and worked for the Council for the Arts in Chambersburg, PA for three years. She is currently a member of the Cumberland Valley Craftsmen Guild and occasionally teaches adult and children’s classes.

Sunday, June 26, 2016 – Songwriters Showcase: 2-5 p.m. Music Makers – 46 West Main songwriter-clipartStreet, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Members of the Songwriters Forum will be performing original songs written as part of the group’s writing exercises in the newly opened Music Makers Center. Featured performers include Jon Ingels, Tresa Paul, Joel Newman, Michael Weber, Ginny Gill, and Craig Allen Williams. For more information, call 717-655-2915.

The Songwriters Forum meets on a monthly basis in Waynesboro. Prior to each meeting, a new title or subject is chosen and members are encouraged to write an original song, resulting in unique works that reflect each participant’s preferred musical genre and unique style.

Continuing by popular demand, “Fin, Feathers, and Fur” featuring artists Carol Wilks and Beth De’ Loiselle will continue to be featured in the main gallery with new work being added.

The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro (13 South Church
