Destination ARTS! Free Performances and Events for July 14-17, 2016

Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Through the Lens & Beyond, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more.  This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Thursday, July 14, 2016 – Gallery Talks: 2 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, MarjorieInWindowWaynesboro, PA 17268. Curator and Director Marjorie Tressler will be starting a new series of gallery talks in Gallery 50 every Thursday. Each week will feature a discussion on the various regional and local artists featured in Gallery 50, including information on their background, latest works, and art genre. Tressler teaches art locally and has conducted classes at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, where her portraits were featured in a solo show in 1993. She is a former student of the Schuler School of Fine Arts and has studied with several nationally known and prominent local artists over the last 35 years. Tressler has been Gallery 50’s lead curator and director since 2013.

Friday, July 15, 2016 – Wine Down Friday: 5:30-8 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main WineDoneStreet, Brad Munn cropWaynesboro, PA 17268. Destination ARTS! will sponsor a musical performance for the general public for free in Gallery 50 each Friday. Wine and light refreshments will be available.

Singer-songwriter Brad Munn will bring his guitar and fiddle to Gallery 50 this Friday, performing a variety of original songs and covers from bluegrass, country, and classic rock. Wine and light refreshments will be available. For more information, call 717-655-2915.

5:30-8 p.m. – Center Square, Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. G@g featuring Gillian Hollen (vocals, keyboard, and guitar) and Garrett Smith (vocals and keyboard) will be performing their unique interpretations of contemporary and standard songs. For more information, call 717-655-2915.

Saturday, July 16, 2016 – Wood Burning Demonstration: 1-3 p.m. 42 Ed BeardWest ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. 42 West ARTS Co-Op member, Ed Beard, will be demonstrating wood burning designs of eagles and feathers this Saturday. Beard has been a woodworker for the past 50 year and has exhibited in art shows and galleries since 1966. He is a graduate of St. John’s College and the University of Florida and is a member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsman, the Lincoln Highway Heritage Group, and a member of the Woodworking Advisory Board.

Saturday, July 16, 2016 – Weaving Demonstration: 1-3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – Pat Beard Weaving30042 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Weaver Pat Beard will demonstrate weaving cotton towels and creating color changes on the loom on Saturday. For more information, visit the co-op website at www.42westarts.com or call 717-762-8394.

By combining yarns of different colors and textures, Bead is able to create unique and beautiful pieces using an “old-fashioned” loom. After the weaving, each panel is washed before being finished by hand. Bear has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Florida and is a juried member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen and the Cumberland Valley Craft Guild. Gallery 50Gallery 50’s (50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) newest window installation is “All About Color,” featuring Chambersburg contemporary artist Marti Yeager. Artwork by local artists Donna Mason, Carol Miller, and Liz Hurley is also on display. Continuing by popular demand, “Fin, Feathers, and Fur” featuring artists Carol Wilks and Beth De’ Loiselle will continue to be featured in the main gallery with new work being added.


42WestARTSW42 West ARTS Co-Op (42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) presents their new show, “Living Water.” Artwork by co-op members will be on display and for sale that features each artist’s interpretation of the theme. Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro

The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro (13 South Church

Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) brings together area potters of all skill levels and ages offering classes, workshops, and pottery sales. Guild members have 24 hour access to the wheels and kiln seven days a week. For information about classes and special programs visit their website at www.ceramics-nccs.org.
