Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Through the Lens & Beyond, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more.  This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Scavenger-collageNow thru Sept. 2 – Children’s Scavenger Hunt: Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Children are invited to participate in a Destination ARTS! Scavenger Hunt starting at Gallery 50. As “DA Detectives,” they will solve clues relating to the works of art on display. Prizes will be awarded upon completion of the scavenger hunt, which will take them to four galleries clustered within two blocks. Successful detectives will also be eligible to win a grand prize to be drawn on September 2.

paletteMonday, Aug. 8, 2016 – Artists’ Connection Group: 6:30-8:30 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. After just two gatherings, the Artists’ Connection has expanded into a group of artists representing all of the arts in Gallery 50 on the second Monday of each month. Artists now have the opportunity to share ideas, discuss art and the newest techniques they have learned, mentor younger artists, and generally inspire one another. MarjorieInWindowThursday, Aug. 11, 2016 – Oil Painting Demonstration: 2-4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Curator and director Marjorie Tressler will be conducting an oil painting demonstration featuring a large landscape. For more information, call 717-655-2915.

Tressler teaches art locally and has conducted classes at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, where her portraits were featured in a solo show in 1993. She is a former student of the Schuler School of Fine Arts and has studied with several nationally known and prominent local artists over the last 35 years. Tressler has been Gallery 50’s lead curator and director since 2013.

Patric Schlee will perform a variety of musical instruments, including the didgeridoo for gallery visitors. Wine and light refreshments will be served. Brenda Slick and Jeff Clise will be perfoWineDonerming a selection of spirituals, musical theater, and performer favorites in Gallery 50 this Friday. Wine and light refreshments will be available. Slick and CliseJeff Clise has more than 20 years of experience in musical theater performance. Most recently he has performed with the Washington County Playhouse Dinner Theater and is a member of the Washington County Museum Consort. Brenda Slick has been a piano teacher and accompanist for over 30 years. She teaches music for the Waynesboro Area School District and is Director of Music at Christ United Methodist Church.

The Danny Webber Trio will perform a mix of classic, contemporary, and original jazz in Center Square. The group features Danny Webber (guitar), Arnie Helmick (bass), and Edgar Myers (drums). Bring your tarnished silver jewelry in to 42 West ARTS Co-Op for a free jewelry cleaning by jewelry artisan Jennifer Caldwell. Caldwell has been involved with jewelry making and crafting since she was a teenager. She also dabbled in pottery, calligraphy, photography, and stained glass but her passion has always been in jewelry. She taught herself through trial and error and learning through books and online resources. Visit the co-op to view her selection of work which includes pendants, chains, rings, earrings, and bracelets.

Pat Beard-1Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016 – Wet Felting Demonstration: 1-3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Weaver Pat Beard will do an introduction to wet felting for all visitors to 42 West ARTS co-op using wool and alpaca fiber. By combining yarns of different colors and textures, Beard is able to create unique and beautiful pieces using an “old-fashioned” loom. After the weaving, each panel is washed before being finished by hand. Beard has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Florida and is a juried member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen and the Cumberland Valley Craft Guild. Gallery 50Gallery 50’s (50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) newest window installation is “All About Color,” featuring Chambersburg contemporary artist Marti Yeager. Artwork by local artists Donna Mason, Carol Miller, and Liz Hurley is also on display. Continuing by popular demand, “Fin, Feathers, and Fur” featuring artists Carol Wilks and Beth De’ Loiselle will continue to be featured in the main gallery with new work being added.

Members of the co-op will be showcasing their work, including photography, pottery, wood burning, nature printing, jewelry, tin-smithing, weaving, and more. Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro

The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro (13 South Church

Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) brings together area potters of all skill levels and ages offering classes, workshops, and pottery sales.
