Destination ARTS! Performances and Events for Oct. 12-16, 2016

Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Through the Lens & Beyond, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more.  This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2016 – Gourd Art Demonstration: 

Denny Bingaman - Gourd Art12:30-2:30 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Nature enthusiast Denny Bingaman will demonstrate his process of making decorative gourds. Visitors will be shown his techniques of carving, burning, and dyeing the gourds. Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016 – Oil Painting Demonstration:

Marjorie Tressler2-4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Curator and director Marjorie Tressler will be conducting an oil painting demonstration featuring a large landscape. For more information, call 717-655-2915.

Tressler teaches art locally and has conducted classes at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, where her portraits were featured in a solo show in 1993. She is a former student of the Schuler School of Fine Arts and has studied with several nationally known and prominent local artists over the last 35 years. Tressler has been Gallery 50’s lead curator and director since 2013.

Thursday, Oct. 13, 2016 – Destination INNOVATION Makers Club: 

InnovationSign6:30-8:30 p.m. 46 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Come out for the first meeting of the DI Makers Club. This group hopes to create a community for anyone who is a maker, innovator, tech enthusiast, or is interested in gadgets. There are no dues or commitments – just a social opportunity for like-minded individuals to get together and share their latest projects or get feedback. For more information, contact Dan DeDona at dedonad@gmail.com.

Friday, Oct. 14, 2016 – Musical Demonstration: 

Patric Schlee5:30-8 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Patric Schlee will entertain visitors with a variety of musical instruments, including the didgeridoo, flute, and drums. Wine and light refreshments will be served. Friday, Oct. 14, 2016 – Wine Down Friday: Mitch Morrill

5:30-8 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Mitch Morrill (vocals and guitar) will perform classic rock and blues for Destination ARTS! Wine Down Friday.

Highly respected for his richly emotive and distinctive voice, excellent guitar playing, and high energy, and known for his work fronting the band Dem Guise, Mitch has been a mainstay throughout the Tri-State area for years.

Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016 – Contemporary Vocal Techniques Workshop: 

9 a.m.- 12 p.m. Music Makers – 46 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Gillian (Hollin) Austin will be teaching a FREE workshop at the new Music Makers center designed to present basic fundamentals of healthy singing and techniques specific to rock, pop, jazz, and indie music. Breath control, posture, diction, phrasing, interpretation will be emphasized. Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016 – DIY Workshop: 

2-3 p.m. Music Makers – 46 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Professional percussionist and teacher Marlin Barnes will hold a FREE Do-It-Yourself workshop at the new Music Makers center. Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016 – Nature Slideshow:

Denny Bingaman will take visitors on a nature walk with his slideshow of wildlife and nature photography. The slideshow will feature photographs taken from the last 30 years. Saturday, Oct. 15, 2016 – Weaving Demonstration: 

Pat Beard Weaving3001-3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Pat Beard will demonstrate how she weaves her beautiful and functional kitchen towels for visitors to the co-op. By combining yarns of different colors and textures, Beard is able to create unique and beautiful pieces using an “old-fashioned” loom. After the weaving, each panel is washed before being finished by hand. Beard has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Florida and is a juried member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen and the Cumberland Valley Craft Guild. Sunday, Oct. 16, 2016 – Free Concert by Jason Kabler: 

Jason Kabler2-4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Nashville recording artist Jason Kabler will be performing a mix of old and new country and pop songs for visitors to Gallery 50. Originally from Greencastle, PA, Kabler now lives in Nashville and recently signed a record deal with Heart Songs Corporation. Gallery 50Gallery 50’s (50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) newest window installation is “All About Color,” featuring Chambersburg contemporary artist Marti Yeager. Artwork by local artists Donna Mason, Carol Miller, and Liz Hurley is also on display. Continuing by popular demand, “Fin, Feathers, and Fur” featuring artists Carol Wilks and Beth De’ Loiselle will continue to be featured in the main gallery with new work being added.


42WestARTSW42 West ARTS Co-Op (42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) presents their new show, “Living Water.” Artwork by co-op members will be on display and for sale that features each artist’s interpretation of the theme. Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro

The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro (13 South Church

Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) brings together area potters of all skill levels and ages offering classes, workshops, and pottery sales.
