Destination ARTS! Performances and Events for Nov. 9-13, 2016

Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Through the Lens & Beyond, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more.  This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Nov. 9, 2016 – Nature Slideshow: 12:30-2:30 p.m.Denny with Elephant

42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Denny Bingaman will take visitors on a nature walk with his slideshow of wildlife and nature photography. Nov. 10, 2016 – Oil Painting Demonstration: 2-4 p.m.

Marjorie TresslerGallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Curator and director Marjorie Tressler will be conducting an oil painting demonstration featuring a large landscape. For more information, call 717-655-2915.

Tressler teaches art locally and has conducted classes at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, where her portraits were featured in a solo show in 1993. She is a former student of the Schuler School of Fine Arts and has studied with several nationally known and prominent local artists over the last 35 years. Tressler has been Gallery 50’s lead curator and director since 2013.

Nov. 11, 2016 – Wine Down Friday: 5:30-8 p.m. The Rolling Coyotes300

Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Steve Warner and the Rolling Coyotes will be bringing their unique harmonies and textured instrumentation to their upcoming Wine Down Friday performance. The group WineDoneperforms Americana, acoustic-based music that touches on many genres, including folk, country, string band, jazz, and rock. Wine and light refreshments will be served. Nov. 11, 2016 – Musical Demonstration: 5:30-8 p.m.

Patric Schlee didgeridoo

42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA17268. Patric Schlee will entertain visitors with a variety of musical instruments, including the didgeridoo, flute, and drums. Wine and light refreshments will be served. For more information, contact the co-op at 717-762-8394.

Nov. 11, 2016 – Veterans Day Show and Reception: 5-8 p.m.

42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. In honor of Veterans Day, Larry Selman will exhibit his collection of military paintings during the month of November at 42 West ARTS Co-Op. Wine and light refreshments will be served. Selman began his career as an illustrator before concentrating solely on historical fine art. He is the only artist to depict every era of American military history and every branch of service. His original works can be found displayed at several military bases and museums, including the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Pa and the Command and General Staff College in Fort Leavenworth, Kan.

Nov. 12, 2016 – Portrait Painting Demonstration: 12-2 p.m.

Donna BingamanPortraint42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Co-Op member, Donna Bingaman, will be demonstrating the art of portrait painting. For more information, contact the co-op at 717-762-8394.

A graduate of the Washington School of Arts, Bingaman is a juried member of the Oil Painters of America and has won several awards for her work. In 2002, she was featured in a solo show at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown, MD. Her portraits are currently displayed in the Chambersburg Court House and Annex as well as in private collections.

Nov. 12, 2016 – Wood Burning Demonstration: 12-3 p.m.

Ed Beard with Eagle42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Co-Op member, Ed Beard, will be demonstrating wood burning designs of eagles and feathers this Saturday. For more information, contact the co-op at 717-762-8394.

Beard has been a woodworker for the past 50 years and has exhibited in art shows and galleries since 1966. He is a graduate of St. John’s College and the University of Florida and is a member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsman, the Lincoln Highway Heritage Group, and the Woodworking Advisory Board.

Nov. 12, 2016 – Suminagashi Demonstration: 1-4 p.m.pamela-nelson

42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Pamela Nelson will be demonstrating the ancient art of Suminagashi which is the Japanese technique of marbling plain paper with water and ink. The resulting paper can be used for gift wrapping, book arts, and more. For more information, contact the co-op at 717-762-8394.

Nov. 13, 2016 – Songwriters Showcase: 2-5 p.m.

songwriters-groupMusic Makers – 46 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Members of the Songwriters Forum will be performing original songs written as part of the group’s writing exercises. The showcase promises a variety of musical genres from the area’s finest performers and musicians. For more information, call 717-655-2915.

The Songwriters Forum meets on a monthly basis in Waynesboro. Prior to each meeting, a new title or subject is chosen and members are encouraged to write an original song, resulting in unique works that reflect each participant’s preferred musical genre and unique style.

Nov. 21, 2016 – Destination INNOVATION Speakers Series:

cermak-and-tesla6:30-8 p.m. Music Makers – 46 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Michael Cermak, Jr. will kick off the Destination INNOVATION Speakers Series with a discussion on electric vehicles, including the benefits, limitations, and daily maintenance of the cars as well as their future impact. Cermak will focus on his personal experience with the Tesla brand which is completely electric and manufactured in the United States. Ongoing Shows

Gallery 50Gallery 50’s (50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) newest window installation is “All About Color,” featuring Chambersburg contemporary artist Marti Yeager. Artwork by local artists Donna Mason, Carol Miller, and Liz Hurley is also on display. Continuing by popular demand, “Fin, Feathers, and Fur” featuring artists Carol Wilks and Beth De’ Loiselle will continue to be featured in the main gallery with new work being added.

Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro

The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro (13 South Church

Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) brings together area potters of all skill levels and ages offering classes, workshops, and pottery sales.
