Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Through the Lens & Beyond, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more.  This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Monday, Nov. 21, 2016 – Destination INNOVATION Speakers Series:

cermak-and-tesla6:30-8 p.m. Music Makers – 46 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Michael Cermak Jr. will kick off the Destination INNOVATION Speakers Series with a discussion on electric vehicles, including the benefits, limitations, and daily maintenance of the cars as well as their future impact. Cermak will focus on his personal experience with the Tesla brand which is completely electric and manufactured in the United States. A Tesla Model S will be available to view following the presentation. For more information, call 717-655-2915.

Wednesday,  Nov. 23, 2016 – Clay Sculpting:

12:30-2:30 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Denny Bingaman will be creating a clay sculpture called “The Eagle Portrait” for visitors to the co-op. For more information, contact the co-op at 717-762-8394.

Friday, Nov. 25, 2016 – Wine Down Friday:

Mountain Ride5:30-8 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Mountain Ride, a Pennsylvania bluegrass band fancying both progressive and traditional facets of the genre will be playing at this week’s Wine Down Friday performance. The group is composed of Eric Avey (guitar WineDoneand vocals), Scott Matlock (fiddle and vocals), Corey Woodcock (banjo), Chance Hurley (mandolin), and Kate Avey (bass and vocals). Friday, Nov. 25, 2016 – Musical Demonstration: patric-schlee-2

5:30-8 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Patric Schlee will entertain visitors with a variety of musical instruments, including the didgeridoo, flute, and drums. Wine and light refreshments will be served. Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016 – Portrait Painting Demonstration:

Donna BingamanPortraint12-2 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Co-Op member, Donna Bingaman, will be demonstrating the art of portrait painting. For more information, contact the co-op at 717-762-8394.

A graduate of the Washington School of Arts, Bingaman is a juried member of the Oil Painters of America and has won several awards for her work. In 2002, she was featured in a solo show at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown, MD. Her portraits are currently displayed in the Chambersburg Court House and Annex as well as in private collections.

Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016 – Cold-Cast Demonstration:

Denny-BearCast_ASP8027-901-2:30 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Co-op member, Denny Bingaman, will be using a rubber mold made from a previous sculpture of a dragonfly in clay to create a new piece using the cold cast method. For more information, contact the co-op at 717-762-8394.

Denny Bingaman is a native of Waynesboro, PA who uses wildlife imagery as a source of inspiration for much of his art, including photography, gourd carving, and sculpting. Bingaman will use his clay sculptures to render rubber molds for cold-casting sculptures in bronze and copper. After casting, a patina is applied and finished off with steel wool and an application of wax.

Ongoing Shows

Gallery 50Gallery 50’s (50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) Artwork by local and regional artists is on display and for sale. The walls are filled with fine art paintings in beautiful frames. The tables are covered with outstanding examples of pottery, wood work, jewelry, sculpture, cards and even hand made soaps. Truly an experience for the senses – especially with the addition of music performances during “Wine Down Friday.”

Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro

The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro (13 South Church

Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) brings together area potters of all skill levels and ages offering classes, workshops, and pottery sales.
