Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Through the Lens & Beyond, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more.  This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016 – Gold Leaf Demonstration:Denny Bingaman with Elephant (1)

12:30-2:30 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Denny Bingaman will be working with gold leaf and applying it to a resin cast that was created earlier. For more information, contact the co-op at 717-762-8394.

Wednesday, Dec. 7, 2016 – Writers Forum:

WritersForumLogo5-7 p.m. 32 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Writers of all genres are welcome to join the monthly Writer’s Forum. Participants will share written works that feature family traditions of Christmastide. For information on how to join the group, please contact Jerry Kowallis at 717-352-8059 or [email protected].

The Writers Forum meets on the first Wednesday of each month to share contributions that usually pertain to a selected subject. After the initial ‘round and round’ contributors can share works on other subjects – be it prose, memoirs, or story-telling.

Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016 – Oil Painting Demonstration:

Marjorie Tressler2-4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Curator and director Marjorie Tressler will be conducting an oil painting demonstration featuring a large landscape. For more information, call 717-655-2915.

Tressler teaches art locally and has conducted classes at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, where her portraits were featured in a solo show in 1993. She is a former student of the Schuler School of Fine Arts and has studied with several nationally known and prominent local artists over the last 35 years. Tressler has been Gallery 50’s lead curator and director since 2013.

Thursday, Dec. 8, 2016 – Traditional Book Binding Class:

pamela-nelson$35, course fees. $15, materials. 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Learn the ancient Japanese technique of printing inks of inks floating on water from instructor Pamela “Soaring Raven” Nelson. The sheets of paper will be used to create books through the process of stab book binding. Each student will leave with their own hand-sewn journal. Friday, Dec. 9, 2016 – Wine Down Friday: Ken Jankura

5:30-8 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Ken Jankura Jazz Trio featuring Ken Jankura (vocals and upright bass), Joe Dennison (guitar), and Bob Jones (drums) WineDonewill be playing jazz standards. Saturday, Dec. 10, 2016 – Portrait Painting Demonstration:

Donna Bingaman12-2 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Co-Op member, Donna Bingaman, will be demonstrating the art of portrait painting. For more information, contact the co-op at 717-762-8394.

A graduate of the Washington School of Arts, Bingaman is a juried member of the Oil Painters of America and has won several awards for her work. In 2002, she was featured in a solo show at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown, MD. Her portraits are currently displayed in the Chambersburg Court House and Annex as well as in private collections.

1-4 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. The clarinet featuring Pat Beard, Bob Stockslager, and Peggy Overcash will be playing holiday tunes making for a festive afternoon. Hot cider and cookies will be available.

Sunday, December 11, 2016 – Christmas Caroling:

ChristmasCarolers2-3 p.m. Meet at the Christmas Tree at the Square in Waynesboro. Get in the holiday spirit and spread some cheer with members of the Waynesboro community as we sing traditional Christmas Carols around downtown Waynesboro. Everyone is welcome to participate and song sheets will be provided.

The group is open to all artists and those passionate about the arts. Willie Dingledein, Team Leader for the 4-H Robotics Club of Franklin County will do a presentation on STEAM: Powering 21st Century Education by Competitive Team Robot Building. Attendees will learn how a Franklin County-based FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Destination INNOVATION (7)Robotics Competition team is motivating students to consider careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) by encouraging the students to build a competition-ready robot in six weeks. Ongoing Shows

Gallery 50Gallery 50’s (50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) Artwork by local and regional artists is on display and for sale. The walls are filled with fine art paintings in beautiful frames. The tables are covered with outstanding examples of pottery, wood work, jewelry, sculpture, cards and even hand made soaps. Truly an experience for the senses – especially with the addition of music performances during “Wine Down Friday.”

Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro

The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro (13 South Church

Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) brings together area potters of all skill levels and ages offering classes, workshops, and pottery sales.
