Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Through the Lens & Beyond, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more.  This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Monday, Dec. 12, 2016 – Artists’ Connection Group:

PianoMural6:30-8:30 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join the Artists’ Connection for their next monthly meeting and to celebrate the holidays! The group is open to all artists and those passionate about the arts. The meeting serves as an opportunity to share ideas, discuss art and the newest techniques you have learned, mentor younger artists, and generally inspire one another. Wednesday, Dec. 14, 2016 – Gourd Art Demonstration:Denny Gourd Art

12:30-2:30 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Nature enthusiast Denny Bingaman will demonstrate his process of making decorative gourds. Thursday, Dec. 15, 2016 – Oil Painting Demonstration:

Marjorie Tressler2-4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Curator and director Marjorie Tressler will be conducting an oil painting demonstration featuring a large landscape. For more information, call 717-655-2915.

Tressler teaches art locally and has conducted classes at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, where her portraits were featured in a solo show in 1993. She is a former student of the Schuler School of Fine Arts and has studied with several nationally known and prominent local artists over the last 35 years. Tressler has been Gallery 50’s lead curator and director since 2013.

Friday, Dec. 16, 2016 – Wine Down Friday:

AcrossThePond5:30-8 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. The popular Irish music of Across the Pond will be featured in a performance on Friday. The band features Michael Morrison (guitar, mandolin, flue and vocals), Chuck Krepley (fiddle, banjo, vocals), and Dan Diviney (whistles, bodhran, vocals). Wine and light refreshments will be served. Formed in late 2010, Across the Pond was named one of the Top 20 Celtic folk bands world-wide by Marc Gunn in 2014 and is considered the most booked Celtic band in Central PA. All members of the trio are passionate about their traditional roots but say their music is also delivered with a modern edge, with a repertoire ranging from hauntingly slow aires to high energy jig and reels, love ballads, and contemporary songs. Friday, Dec. 16, 2016 – Musical Demonstration:

Patric Schlee will entertain visitors with a variety of musical instruments, including the didgeridoo, flute, and drums. Wine and light refreshments will be served. 12-3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. The clarinet featuring Pat Beard, saxophone by Bob Stockslager, and Peggy Overcash on flute, will be playing holiday tunes making for a festive afternoon. Hot cider and cookies will be available.

1-3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Professional photographer Andy Smetzer will be presenting a slide show featuring his creative photography taken over the many years. Sunday, Dec. 18, 2016 – Harp Music:

1-4 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. 42 West Arts Co-Op is honored to welcome Lynda Kuckenbrod for an afternoon of harp music and a “Harp Petting Zoo” for all ages. Lynda is a Certified Clinical Harpist providing music for hospitals, hospice, and nursing homes, as well as sound therapy open to the public. For more information, contact the co-op at 717-762-8394.

Monday, Dec. 19, 2016 – Destination INNOVATION Speakers Series:

InnovationSign willie-dingledein6:30-8 p.m. Music Makers – 46 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Willie Dingledein, Team Leader for the 4-H Robotics Club of Franklin County will do a presentation on STEAM: Powering 21st Century Education by Competitive Team Robot Building. Attendees will learn how a Franklin County-based FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Robotics Crobotompetition team is motivating students to consider careers in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math (STEAM) by encouraging the students to build a competition-ready robot in six weeks. This presentation will be a great educational opportunity for STEAM educators and students and parents who would like to learn more about the program. Please call 717-655-2915 for more information.

Ongoing Shows

Gallery 50Gallery 50’s (50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) Artwork by local and regional artists is on display and for sale. The walls are filled with fine art paintings in beautiful frames. The tables are covered with outstanding examples of pottery, wood work, jewelry, sculpture, cards and even hand made soaps. Truly an experience for the senses – especially with the addition of music performances during “Wine Down Friday.”

Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro

The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro (13 South Church

Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) brings together area potters of all skill levels and ages offering classes, workshops, and pottery sales.
