Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Through the Lens & Beyond, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more.  This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Tuesday, Feb. 7, 2017 – Ladies (And Men!) Night Out:

Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017 – Gourd Art Demo and Oil Class Demonstration:

Denny Gourd Art12-3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PAdonna-bingaman 17268. Join Donna Bingaman at her weekly painting class every Wednesday while Patric Schlee provides ambient music designed to inspire! Each student benefits from her personal instruction and 40 years of experience. Each class is $15. Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017 – Open Mic Nite:Cartoon Rock Singer

Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017 – Oil Painting Demonstration:

Marjorie Tressler2-4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Marjorie Tressler, will be conducting her weekly demo covering a variety of subjects, including portraits, landscapes, and other genres. While there, be sure to view the gallery’s “Winter White” show featuring Steve Nevada’s impressionistic paintings as well as works by two of the region’s accomplished artists, Tom Renner and Liz Hurley. Tressler is a juried member of the Oil Painters of America for 18 years as well as a certified member of the Maryland Society of Portrait Painters for over 20 years. Her art teaching career started with the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in 1994 after being featured in a solo portrait show in 1993.

Thursday, Feb. 9, 2017 – Corks and Clay Workshop: tripodcups

6-8 p.m. $25 Ceramic Arts Studio of Waynesboro – 13 South Church Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Stay warm with a cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate in a custom-made tripod cup created by you! Cups are made from durable stoneware clay that is food, oven, and microwave safe. Workshop fees include all materials, glazes, and firings. The popular Irish music of Across the Pond is coming back to Gallery 50/Music Makers! The band features Michael Morrison (guitar, mandolin, flue and vocals), Chuck Krepley (fiddle, banjo, Across the Pond 2vocals), and Dan Diviney (whistles, bodhran, vocals). Formed in late 2010, Across the Pond was named one of the Top 20 Celtic folk bands world-wide by Marc Gunn in 2014 and is considered the most booked Celtic band in Central PA. All members of the trio are passionate about their traditional roots but say their music is also delivered with a modern edge, with a repertoire ranging from hauntingly slow aires to high energy jig and reels, love ballads, and contemporary songs. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017 – Portrait Painting Demonstration:

12-2 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Co-Op member, Donna BingamanDonna Bingaman, will be demonstrating the art of portrait painting. For more information, contact the co-op at 717-762-8394.

A graduate of the Washington School of Arts, Bingaman is a juried member of the Oil Painters of America and has won several awards for her work. In 2002, she was featured in a solo show at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown, MD. Her portraits are currently displayed in the Chambersburg Court House and Annex as well as in private collections.

Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017 – Yarn Spinning Demonstration:

1-3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. PatBeardWeaver Pat Beard will demonstrate spinning fleece into yarn for visitors to the co-op. For more information, call 717-762-8394.

By combining yarns of different colors and textures, Beard is able to create unique and beautiful pieces using an “old-fashioned” loom. After the weaving, each panel is washed before being finished by hand. Beard has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Florida and is a juried member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen and the Cumberland Valley Craft Guild. Saturday, Feb. 11, 2017 – Children’s Pottery Workshop: pinch-pots

Children, ages 5-10, can create two pinch pot flower pots, which they will decorate and paint with food-safe glazes. The class includes step-by-step instruction, all materials, glazes, and firings. Monday, Feb. 13, 2017 – Oil Painting Class: Marjorie Tressler

1-4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Marjorie Tressler invites artists of all ability levels to attend her weekly painting class in Gallery 50 that will cover both oil and acrylic mediums. The group is open to all artists and those passionate about the arts. The meeting serves as an opportunity to share ideas, discuss art and the newest techniques you have learned, mentor younger artists, and generally inspire one another.
