Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Through the Lens & Beyond, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more.  This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Monday, March. 20, 2017 – Oil Painting Class: Marjorie Tressler

1-4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Marjorie Tressler invites artists of all ability levels to attend her weekly painting class in Gallery 50 that will cover both oil and acrylic mediums. Monday, March 20, 2017 – Destination INNOVATION Speakers Series:


6:30-8 p.m. Music Makers – 46 West Main Street
, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Michael Cermak Jr. lead a discussion on electric vehicles, including the benefits, limitations, and daily maintenance of the cars as well as their future impact. Cermak will focus on his personal experience with the Tesla brand which is completely electric and manufactured in the United States. Wednesday, March 22, 2017 – Open Mic Nite:


6 to 9 p.m. Music Makers – 46 West Main Street
, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Local artists are invited to participate in an open mic session facilitated by Brad Munn. All musical styles and spectators are welcome. A sound system, microphone, and electric stage piano will be provided. Contact 717-655-2915 for more information.

Thursday, Mar. 23, 2017 – Oil Painting Demonstration:

2-4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Curator and director Marjorie Tressler will be conducting her weekly demo covering a variety of subjects, including portraits, landscapes, and other genres. While there, be sure to view the gallery’s “Winter White” show featuring Steve Nevada’s impressionistic paintings as well as works by two of the region’s accomplished artists, Tom Renner and Liz Hurley. Thursday, March 23, 2017 Ceramic Arts Plates Workshop:

7 to 9 p.m. $30 Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro – 13 South Church Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Create three beautiful hand-painted plates from stoneware clay under the instruction of Carolyn Baker. Fee includes all materials, glazes, and firings. No experience necessary. Thursday, March 23, 2017 – Contemporary Choir:


7 to 8 p.m. Music Makers – 46 West Main Street
, Waynesboro, PA 17268. A new community choir is starting on Thursdays at the Music Makers center and is open to singers of all skill levels who are at least 14 years of age. Friday, Mar. 24, 2017 – Musical Demonstration:PatricFlute600

5:30-8 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. To celebrate the holiday season, 42 West Arts Co-Op. Patric Schlee will entertain visitors with a variety of musical instruments, including the didgeridoo, flute, and drums. Visitors should also be sure to view pieces from the “Winter Wonderland Members Show.” Wine and light refreshments will be served. Friday, March 24, 2017 – Live Music Friday:

5:30 to 8 p.m. Music Makers – 46 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Mountain Ride, a Pennsylvania bluegrass band fancying both progressive and traditional facets of the genre will be playing at this week’s Wine Down Friday performance. The group is composed of Eric Avey (guitar and vocals), Scott Matlock (fiddle and vocals), Corey Woodcock (banjo), Chance Hurley (mandolin), and Kate Avey (bass and vocals). Saturday, March 25, 2017 – Civil War Drumming Demonstration:

1:00 to 2:30 p.m. Music Makers – 46 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Marlin Barnes will present a program on the role of the drum during the U.S. Civil War. He will demonstrate many of the common signals and drum beats, including camp duty signals as well as battlefield calls. For questions, call 717-655-2915.

Saturday, March 25, 2017 – Potters’ Wheel Demonstration:

1:00 to 3 p.m. 42 West Arts Co-Op – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Rod Meyer and his wife Karri Benedict will be working in clay and demonstrating how they create stoneware and decorative Raku pottery. For more information call 717-762-8394.

Rod Meyer and Karri Benedict have been making pottery together for more than 37 years. Their work shows a great respect for fine craftsmanship and their sense of design is strongly influenced by function. They produce a full line of pieces for the home that are lead-free and dishwasher, microwave, and oven safe. They are both juried members of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen and own and operate Willow Creek Pottery.

Saturday, March 25, 2017 – Paper Collage Demonstration:

1:00 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Hollis Mentzer will be doing a demonstration on Paper Collage and talk about Artistic Compositions using recycled materials and fibers found in nature. For more information call 717-762-8394.

Monday, March 27, 2017 – Cabaret-Musical Theatre Forum:

6:30 p.m. Music Makers – 46 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Destination ARTS! is starting a new Cabaret-Musical Theater forum on the fourth Monday of each month. Enthusiasts of musical theater can receive feedback on performances and original material. The sessions will also be used to pull together songs three to four times a year in a collaborative performance showcase. This is an evolving initiative that will be shaped by those who attend and offers unique networking opportunities.  A piano and sound system will be available for use. Ongoing Shows

Gallery 50’s (50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) Artwork by local and regional artists is on display and for sale. The walls are filled with fine art paintings in beautiful frames. The tables are covered with outstanding examples of pottery, wood work, jewelry, sculpture, cards and even hand made soaps. Truly an experience for the senses – especially with the addition of music performances during “Wine Down Friday.”
