Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Through the Lens & Beyond, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more.  This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. 

Monday, April 10, 2017 – Oil Painting Class:

1 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Marjorie Tressler invites artists of all ability levels to attend her weekly painting class in Gallery 50 that will cover both oil and acrylic mediums. Monday, April 10, 2017 – Artists’ Connection Group:

6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join the Artists’ Connection for their next monthly meeting. The group is open to all artists and those passionate about the arts. The meeting serves as an opportunity to share ideas, discuss art and the newest techniques you have learned, mentor younger artists, and generally inspire one another. Marjorie Tressler will continue her demo from last month’s meeting by covering her oil painting process focusing on value and color. The winner of the “Egg in Art” hunt will also be drawn at the meeting. There are no cost or dues – just a way for artists to connect! Wednesday, April 12, 2017 – Thunder Gourd Demo and Oil Painting Class:

12 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join Donna Bingaman at her weekly painting class every Wednesday while Patric Schlee provides ambient music designed to inspire! Each student benefits from her personal instruction and 40 years of experience. Each class is $15. While there, Denny Bingaman will be crafting a thunder gourd for gallery visitors. Wednesday, April 12, 2017 – Jam Session:

6 to 9 p.m. Music Makers – 46 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Musicians of all musical genres and ability levels are invited to participate in a Jam Session facilitated by Joel Newman. All musical styles are welcome and a sound system, microphone, and electric stage piano will be provided. Thursday, April 13, 2017 – Oil Painting Demonstration:

2 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Gallery 50 Curator, Marjorie Tressler, will be conducting her weekly demo covering a variety of subjects, including portraits, landscapes, and other genres. While there, enjoy our new window display “Down on the Farm” accompanied by new artwork featuring new artist Tina Stonestreet and frequent artists Steve Nevada and Tom Renner. Thursday, April 13, 2017 – Corks and Clay Workshop:

6 to 8 p.m. $30 Ceramic Arts Studio of Waynesboro – 13 S. Church St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Students will create a decorative pottery pyramid hanging basket perfect for Mother’s Day. Baskets will be made from a combination of slab, carving, and sculpture. Fee includes instruction, materials, glaze, and firings. Friday, April 14, 2017 – Musical Demonstration:

5:30 to 8 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Patric Schlee will entertain visitors with a variety of musical instruments, including the didgeridoo, flute, and drums. While there, be sure to look for the quilted and hand-crafted creations by guest artist Andrea Finch. Wine and light refreshments will be served. Friday, April 14, 2017 – Live Music Friday:

5:30 to 8 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St., , PA 17268. The popular Irish music of Across the Pond is coming back to Music Makers! The band features Michael Morrison (guitar, mandolin, flue and vocals), Chuck Krepley (fiddle, banjo, vocals), and Dan Diviney (whistles, bodhran, vocals). Wine and light refreshments will be served. Formed in late 2010, Across the Pond was named one of the Top 20 Celtic folk bands world-wide by Marc Gunn in 2014 and is considered the most booked Celtic band in Central PA. All members of the trio are passionate about their traditional roots but say their music is also delivered with a modern edge, with a repertoire ranging from hauntingly slow aires to high energy jig and reels, love ballads, and contemporary songs. Saturday, April 15, 2017 – Portrait Painting Demonstration:

12 to 2 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Co-Op member, Donna Bingaman, will be demonstrating the art of portrait painting. For more information, contact the co-op at 717-762-8394.

A graduate of the Washington School of Arts, Bingaman is a juried member of the Oil Painters of America and has won several awards for her work. In 2002, she was featured in a solo show at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown, MD. Her portraits are currently displayed in the Chambersburg Court House and Annex as well as in private collections.

Saturday, April 15, 2017 – Yarn Spinning Demonstration:

1-3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Weaver Pat Beard will demonstrate spinning fleece into yarn for visitors to the co-op. For more information, call 717-762-8394.

By combining yarns of different colors and textures, Beard is able to create unique and beautiful pieces using an “old-fashioned” loom. After the weaving, each panel is washed before being finished by hand. Beard has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Florida and is a juried member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen and the Cumberland Valley Craft Guild. The Destination INNOVAT!ON committee invites all area makers and tech enthusiasts to learn how they can participate in a new community project – Escape House! Escape House can be an exciting activity for students, adults, and groups who want to learn or apply their STEAM skills to create a fun and educational attraction for Waynesboro. Gallery 50Gallery 50’s (50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) Artwork by local and regional artists is on display and for sale. The walls are filled with fine art paintings in beautiful frames. The tables are covered with outstanding examples of pottery, wood work, jewelry, sculpture, cards and even hand made soaps. Truly an experience for the senses – especially with the addition of music performances during “Wine Down Friday.”

Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro

The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro (13 South Church

Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) brings together area potters of all skill levels and ages offering classes, workshops, and pottery sales.
