Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Through the Lens & Beyond, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more.  This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Wednesday, April 19, 2017 – Wildlife Sculpting and Oil Painting Class:

12 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join Donna Bingaman at her weekly painting class every Wednesday while Patric Schlee provides ambient music designed to inspire! Each student benefits from her personal instruction and 40 years of experience. Each class is $15. Denny Bingaman will also be conducting a wildlife sculpture demonstration for gallery visitors. Wednesday, April 19, 2017 – Open Mic Nite:


6 to 9 p.m. Music Makers – 46 W. Main St
., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Local artists are invited to participate in an open mic session facilitated by Brad Munn. All musical styles and spectators are welcome. A sound system, microphone, and electric stage piano will be provided. Contact 717-655-2915 for more information.

Thursday, April 20, 2017 – Altered Book Class:

12 to 4 p.m. $40 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Pamela Nelson will guide students through some of the techniques used to take an old book from something to read into a beautiful piece of art. There are no rules and all decorating techniques and materials can be used. Students must bring a hardback book with at least 150 pages. $40 fee includes cost of instruction and materials. Thursday, April 20, 2017 – Oil Painting Demonstration:

2 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Gallery 50 Curator, Marjorie Tressler, will be conducting her weekly demo covering a variety of subjects, including portraits, landscapes, and other genres. While there, enjoy our new window display “Down on the Farm” accompanied by new artwork featuring new artist Tina Stonestreet and frequent artists Steve Nevada and Tom Renner. Contemporary Choir:

7 to 8 p.m. Music Makers – 46 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join a new community choir open to singers of all skill levels who are at least 14 years of age on Thursdays at Music Makers. Friday, April 21, 2017 – Musical Demonstration:

5:30 to 8 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Patric Schlee will entertain visitors with a variety of musical instruments, including the didgeridoo, flute, and drums. While there, be sure to look for the quilted and hand-crafted creations by guest artist Andrea Finch. Wine and light refreshments will be served. Friday, April 21, 2017 – Live Music Friday:

5:30 to 8 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Mitch Morrill (vocals and guitar) will perform classic rock and blues for Destination ARTS! Live Music Friday. Highly respected for his richly emotive and distinctive voice, excellent guitar playing, and high energy, and known for his work fronting the band Dem Guise, Mitch has been a mainstay throughout the Tri-State area for years. Friday, April 21, 2017 – Corks and Clay Workshop:

6 to 8 p.m. $30 Ceramic Arts Studio of Waynesboro – 13 S. Church St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Students will create a decorative pottery pyramid hanging basket perfect for at home or for mom. Baskets will be made from a combination of slab, carving, and sculpture. Fee includes instruction, materials, glaze, and firings. Saturday, April 22, 2017 – Potters’ Wheel Demonstration:

1 to 3 p.m. 42 West Arts Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Rod Meyer and his wife, Karri Benedict, will be working in clay and demonstrating how they create stoneware and decorative Raku pottery. For more information call 717-762-8394.

Rod Meyer and Karri Benedict have been making pottery together for more than 37 years. Their work shows a great respect for fine craftsmanship and their sense of design is strongly influenced by function. They produce a full line of pieces for the home that are lead-free and dishwasher, microwave, and oven safe. They are both juried members of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen and own and operate Willow Creek Pottery

Saturday, April 22, 2016 – Cold-Cast Demonstration:

1 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Denny Bingaman will be using a rubber mold made from a previous sculpture of an eagles’ head in clay to create a new piece using the cold cast method. For more information, contact the co-op at 717-762-8394.

Denny Bingaman is a native of Waynesboro, PA who uses wildlife imagery as a source of inspiration for much of his art, including photography, gourd carving, and sculpting. Bingaman will use his clay sculptures to render rubber molds for cold-casting sculptures in bronze and copper. After casting, a patina is applied and finished off with steel wool and an application of wax.

Saturday, April 22, 2017 – Hollywood 101:

2 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Get training and advice from a working Hollywood actor, Barry Ratcliffe, best known for his role of Don Foushee on the hit TV series “Outsiders.” He will talk about pursuing an acting career, the audition process, as well as entertaining stories on the business. Monday, April 24, 2017 – Oil Painting Class:

1 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Marjorie Tressler invites artists of all ability levels to attend her weekly painting class in Gallery 50 that will cover both oil and acrylic mediums. The tables are covered with outstanding examples of pottery, wood work, jewelry, sculpture, cards and even hand made soaps. Truly an experience for the senses – especially with the addition of music performances during “Wine Down Friday.”

Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro

The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro (13 South Church

Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) brings together area potters of all skill levels and ages offering classes, workshops, and pottery sales.
