Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Through the Lens & Beyond, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more.  This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Monday, April 24, 2017 – Oil Painting Class:

1 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Marjorie Tressler invites artists of all ability levels to attend her weekly painting class in Gallery 50 that will cover both oil and acrylic mediums. Wednesday, April 26, 2017 – Bird House Gourd Demo and Oil Painting Class:

12 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join Donna Bingaman at her weekly painting class every Wednesday while Patric Schlee provides ambient music designed to inspire! Each student benefits from her personal instruction and 40 years of experience. Each class is $15. Denny Bingaman will also be showing gallery visitors how he creates bird houses out of gourds. Wednesday, April 26, 2017 – Jam Session:

6 to 9 p.m. Music Makers – 46 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Musicians of all musical genres and ability levels are invited to participate in a Jam Session facilitated by Joel Newman. All musical styles are welcome and a sound system, microphone, and electric stage piano will be provided. This is a great opportunity to network with fellow musicians and gain experience in a new genre. Contact 717-655-2915 for more information. 

Thursday, April 27, 2017 – Oil Painting Demonstration:

2 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Gallery 50 Curator, Marjorie Tressler, will be conducting her weekly demo covering a variety of subjects, including portraits, landscapes, and other genres. While there, enjoy our new window display “Down on the Farm” accompanied by new artwork featuring new artist Tina Stonestreet and frequent artists Steve Nevada and Tom Renner. Thursday, April 27, 2017 – Bird and Nest Sculpture Workshop:

7 to 9 p.m. $30 Ceramic Arts Studio of Waynesboro – 13 S. Church St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Carolyn Baker will guiding students through the process of creating a clay sculpture of a bird and its nest. Fee includes instruction, materials, glaze, and firings. Thursday, April 27, 2017 Contemporary Choir:

7 to 8 p.m. Music Makers – 46 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join a new community choir open to singers of all skill levels who are at least 14 years of age on Thursdays at Music Makers. Friday, April 28, 2017 – Musical Demonstration:

5:30 to 8 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Patric Schlee will entertain visitors with a variety of musical instruments, including the didgeridoo, flute, and drums. While there, be sure to look for the quilted and hand-crafted creations by guest artist Andrea Finch. Wine and light refreshments will be served. Friday, April 28, 2017 – Live Music Friday:

5:30 to 8 p.m. Music Makers – 46 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Ritma Cordia will be performing their unique brand of folk, celtic, and light classical music. Wine and light refreshments will be available.

Ritma Cordia is comprised of Marlin Barnes on the marimba and Jane Peatling on the cello. Barnes has performed with the Hagerstown Municipal Band, the Maryland Symphony Orchestra, and the Shippensburg Festival Orchestra. Peatling plays with the Mercersburg Area Community Chorus and Orchestra and several chamber groups. Both are faculty members at Cumberland Valley School of Music.  

Saturday, April 29, 2017 – Contemporary Vocal Techniques Workshop:

9 a.m. to 12 p.m. $7.50 Music Makers – 46 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Gillian Austin will be teaching the basic fundamentals of healthy singing and techniques specific to rock, pop, jazz, and indie music. Breath control, posture, diction, phrasing, and interpretation will be emphasized. Not only will you hear about these techniques, you will have an opportunity to try them by singing with the group – and individually if you are brave! Cost is $7.50 pre-register or $10 at the door. Saturday, April 29, 2017 – Portrait Painting Demonstration:

12 to 2 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Co-Op member, Donna Bingaman, will be demonstrating the art of portrait painting. For more information, contact the co-op at 717-762-8394.

A graduate of the Washington School of Arts, Bingaman is a juried member of the Oil Painters of America and has won several awards for her work. In 2002, she was featured in a solo show at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown, MD. Her portraits are currently displayed in the Chambersburg Court House and Annex as well as in private collections.

Saturday, April 29, 2017 – Suminagashi Demonstration:

1 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Pamela Soaring Raven will be demonstrating the ancient art of Suminagashi which is the Japanese technique of marbling plain paper with water and ink. The resulting paper can be used for gift wrapping, book arts, and more. For more information, contact the co-op at 717-762-8394.

2 to 4 p.m. Music Makers – 46 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Jack Damico will guide visitors through his 30-year process of building beautiful and high-quality guitars. Monday, May 1, 2017 – Songwriters’ Workshop:

7 p.m. Music Makers – 46 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join members of the Songwriters’ Workshop for their monthly meeting as they share their latest efforts writing a song with a break-up theme. For more information, contact Jonathan Ingels at .

Participants are encouraged to write a song, lyric, or instrumental piece that is inspired by that month’s theme. All genres are welcome and participants share their results, process, feedback with one another. Once a quarter, the group performs their songs for the public.

Gallery 50Gallery 50’s (50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) Artwork by local and regional artists is on display and for sale. The walls are filled with fine art paintings in beautiful frames. The tables are covered with outstanding examples of pottery, wood work, jewelry, sculpture, cards and even hand made soaps. Truly an experience for the senses – especially with the addition of music performances during “Wine Down Friday.”

The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro (13 South Church

Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) brings together area potters of all skill levels and ages offering classes, workshops, and pottery sales.
