Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Through the Lens & Beyond, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more.  This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Monday, May 1, 2017 – Oil Painting Class:

1 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Marjorie Tressler invites artists of all ability levels to attend her weekly painting class in Gallery 50 that will cover both oil and acrylic mediums. Monday, May 1, 2017 – Songwriters’ Workshop:

7 p.m. Music Makers – 46 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join members of the Songwriters’ Workshop for their monthly meeting as they share their latest efforts writing a song with a break-up theme. For more information, contact Jonathan Ingels at [email protected].

Participants are encouraged to write a song, lyric, or instrumental piece that is inspired by that month’s theme. All genres are welcome and participants share their results, process, feedback with one another. Once a quarter, the group performs their songs for the public.

Wednesday, May 3, 2017 – Oil Painting Class:

12 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join Donna Bingaman at her weekly painting class every Wednesday while Patric Schlee provides ambient music designed to inspire! Wednesday, May 3, 2017 – Open Mic Nite:

6 to 9 p.m. Music Makers – 46 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Local artists are invited to participate in an open mic session facilitated by Brad Munn. All musical styles and spectators are welcome. A sound system, microphone, and electric stage piano will be provided. Contact 717-655-2915 for more information.

Wednesday, May 3, 2017 – Writers Forum:

5 to 7 p.m. 32 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Writers of all genres are welcome to join the monthly Writers Forum meeting. Participants will share written works inspired by “What Springtime Means to Me.” For information on how to join the group, please contact Jerry Kowallis at 717-352-8059 or [email protected].

The Writers Forum meets on the first Wednesday of each month to share contributions that usually pertain to a selected subject. After the initial ‘round and round’ contributors can share works on other subjects – be it prose, memoirs, or story-telling. Visitors are welcome as well as ideas for future meetings.

Thursday, May 4, 2017 – Oil Painting Demonstration:

2 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Gallery 50 Curator, Marjorie Tressler, will be conducting her weekly demo covering a variety of subjects, including portraits, landscapes, and other genres. While there, enjoy our new window display “Down on the Farm” accompanied by new artwork featuring new artist Tina Stonestreet and frequent artists Steve Nevada and Tom Renner. Thursday, May 4, 2017 Contemporary Choir:

7 to 8 p.m. Music Makers – 46 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join members of our community choir which open to singers of all skill levels who are at least 14 years of age on Thursdays at Music Makers. Friday and Saturday, May 4 & 5, 2017 – Mother’s Day Pottery Sale:

10 a.m.-2 p.m. Penn State Campus, Mont Alto. Support the artisans of the Nicodemus Center for Ceramic Studies by attending their annual Mother’s Day Pottery Sale at Penn State Mont Alto. A variety of pottery will be on sale as well as herb pots with herbs, succulent, or houseplant of your choice. Supplies are limited so hurry!

Friday, May 5, 2017 – Corks and Clay Mini Workshops:

6-7 p.m., 7-8 p.m., or 8-9 p.m. $15 each Ceramic Arts Studio of Waynesboro – 13 S. Church St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Sample what a Corks and Clay workshop is about by trying one of the mini workshops. Each student will receive step by step instructions in sculpting a pinch pot mini bud vase. Friday, May 5, 2017 – Musical Demonstration:

5:30 to 8 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Patric Schlee will entertain visitors with a variety of musical instruments, including the didgeridoo, flute, and drums. While there, be sure to look for the quilted and hand-crafted creations by guest artist Andrea Finch. Wine and light refreshments will be served. Friday, May 5, 2017 – Live Music Friday:

5:30 to 8 p.m. Music Makers – 46 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Slackwater 4 will be playing rock music with an upbeat and funky spin on a mixture of covers and original songs. The group consists of Jonathan Ingels, Kevin Coldsmith, Brian Forberger, and Ethan Larsh. Wine and light refreshments will be available. 

Sunday, May 7, 2017 – Community Book Club:

1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. All readers are invited to join the book club as they discuss “Swing Time” by Zadie Smith, which explores how dance can and can’t transcend racial barriers. Sunday, May 7, 2017 – Drum Circle:

2-3:30 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Patric Schlee invites young and old to join him for a drum circle at the co-op on Sunday. The group is open to all artists and those passionate about the arts. The meeting serves as an opportunity to share ideas, discuss art and the newest techniques you have learned, mentor younger artists, and generally inspire one another. Gallery 50Gallery 50’s (50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) Artwork by local and regional artists is on display and for sale. The walls are filled with fine art paintings in beautiful frames. The tables are covered with outstanding examples of pottery, wood work, jewelry, sculpture, cards and even hand made soaps. Truly an experience for the senses – especially with the addition of music performances during “Wine Down Friday.”

Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro

The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro (13 South Church

Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) brings together area potters of all skill levels and ages offering classes, workshops, and pottery sales.
