Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Through the Lens & Beyond, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more.  This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Starting Tuesday, May 23, 2017 – C Computer Programming Class:

5 to 7 p.m. Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library Community Room – 45 E. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Retired Penn State Mont Alto professor Zig Herzog will be teaching students to write a simple computer programs using the C Computer Language. This free class will meet every Tuesday and Thursday for eight weeks beginning on May 23, 2017. The course is designed for beginners at least 15 years of age. Tuesday, May 23, 2017 – Corks and Clay Workshop:


6 to 8 p.m. $30 Ceramic Arts Studio of Waynesboro – 13 S. Church St.
, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Students will create a vintage-style wall planter perfect for displaying flowers. Planters will be made from durable stoneware clay. Fee includes instruction, materials, glaze, and firings. To register, contact Mary Ashe-Mahr at [email protected] or call 717-404-3190.

Wednesday, May 24, 2017 – Oil Painting Class:

12 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join Donna Bingaman at her weekly painting class every Wednesday while Patric Schlee provides ambient music designed to inspire! Each student benefits from her personal instruction and 40 years of experience. Each class is $15. Wednesday, May 24, 2017 – Jam Session:

6 to 9 p.m. Music Makers – 46 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Musicians of all musical genres and ability levels are invited to participate in a Jam Session facilitated by Joel Newman. All musical styles are welcome and a sound system, microphone, and electric stage piano will be provided. This is a great opportunity to network with fellow musicians and gain experience in a new genre. Contact 717-655-2915 for more information.

Thursday, May 25, 2017 – Oil Painting Demonstration:

2 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Gallery 50 Curator, Marjorie Tressler, will be conducting her weekly demo covering a variety of subjects, including portraits, landscapes, and other genres. While there, enjoy our new window display “Down on the Farm” accompanied by new artwork featuring new artist Tina Stonestreet and frequent artists Steve Nevada and Tom Renner. Friday, May 26, 2017 – Musical Demonstration:

5:30 to 8 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Patric Schlee will entertain visitors with a variety of musical instruments, including the didgeridoo, flute, and drums. Members will be showcasing their art work for the May show “Spring Into Earth Day.” Guest artist Andrea Finch will also have her handcrafted quilts and crafts on display. Wine and light refreshments will be served. Friday, May 26, 2017 – Live Music Friday:

5:30 to 8 p.m. Music Makers – 46 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.

The Flying Matlocks featuring Scott and Laurie Matlock will be performing their mix of folk and bluegrass. Wine and light refreshments will be served. For more information, call717-655-2915.

In addition to their work as a duo, Scott (vocals and fiddle) and Laurie (vocals and guitar) are well-known throughout the area for their work with Soleil. Scott also performs with the popular bluegrass group Mountain Ride.

Saturday, May 27, 2017 – Wet Felting Demonstration:

1 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Weaver Pat Beard will do an introduction to wet felting for all gallery visitors using wool and alpaca fiber. For more information call 717-762-8394.

By combining yarns of different colors and textures, Beard is able to create unique and beautiful pieces using an “old-fashioned” loom. After the weaving, each panel is washed before being finished by hand. Beard has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Florida and is a juried member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen and the Cumberland Valley Craft Guild. Monday, May 29, 2017 – Oil Painting Class:

1 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Marjorie Tressler invites artists of all ability levels to attend her weekly painting class in Gallery 50 that will cover both oil and acrylic mediums. The tables are covered with outstanding examples of pottery, wood work, jewelry, sculpture, cards and even hand made soaps. Truly an experience for the senses – especially with the addition of music performances during “Wine Down Friday.”

The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro (13 South Church

Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) brings together area potters of all skill levels and ages offering classes, workshops, and pottery sales.
