Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Through the Lens & Beyond, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more.  This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Wednesday, June 7, 2017 – Writers Forum:

5 to 7 p.m. Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library – 45 E. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Writers of all genres are welcome to join the monthly Writers Forum meeting. Participants will share written works inspired by an unusual summer experience that contains surprise, drama, or humor. The Writers Forum meets on the first Wednesday of each month to share contributions that usually pertain to a selected subject. After the initial ‘round and round’ contributors can share works on other subjects – be it prose, memoirs, or story-telling. Visitors are welcome as well as ideas for future meetings.

Wednesday, June 7, 2017 – Oil Painting Class:

12 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join Donna Bingaman at her weekly painting class every Wednesday while Patric Schlee provides ambient music designed to inspire! Each student benefits from her personal instruction and 40 years of experience. Each class is $15. Denny Bingaman will be burning and dyeing gourds for gallery visitors. Thursday, June 8, 2017 – Oil Painting Demonstration:

2 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Gallery 50 Curator, Marjorie Tressler, will be conducting her weekly demo covering a variety of subjects, including portraits, landscapes, and other genres. While there, enjoy our new window display “Down on the Farm” accompanied by new artwork featuring new artist Tina Stonestreet and frequent artists Steve Nevada and Tom Renner. Friday, June 9, 2017 – Musical Demonstration:

5:30 to 8 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Patric Schlee will entertain visitors with a variety of musical instruments, including the didgeridoo, flute, and drums. Members will be showcasing their art work for the May show “Spring Into Earth Day.” Guest artist Andrea Finch will also have her handcrafted quilts and crafts on display. Wine and light refreshments will be served. Friday, June 9, 2017 – Live Music Friday:

5:30-8 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Destination ARTS! welcomes Brahman Noodles to Music Makers this Friday. The duo, comprised by Jimmy Petrohilos and Scott Innes, will play a mix of classic outlaw country, Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan, and original music. Wine and light refreshments will be available.

Saturday, June 10, 2017 – Second Saturday Beach Party:

Times and locations vary. Mainstreet Waynesboro, Destination ARTS!, and the businesses of downtown Waynesboro are planning an afternoon of fun activities and special summer promotions for our Downtown Beach Party. Comedian and magician Michael Thomas will be performing a magic show for kids from 2-3 p.m. at Music Makers (46 W. Main St.) followed by street performances until 4 p.m. There will also be face painting and balloons for kids from 3-4 p.m. at Music Makers. Blues and rock music by Jomo will be playing in Center Square from 5-7 p.m. Make downtown Waynesboro your stop for a fun summer evening and don’t forget your beach gear! Saturday, June 10, 2017 – Portrait Painting Demonstration:

12 to 2 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Co-Op member, Donna Bingaman, will be demonstrating the art of portrait painting. For more information, contact the co-op at 717-762-8394.

A graduate of the Washington School of Arts, Bingaman is a juried member of the Oil Painters of America and has won several awards for her work. In 2002, she was featured in a solo show at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown, MD. Her portraits are currently displayed in the Chambersburg Court House and Annex as well as in private collections.

Saturday, June 10, 2017 – Weaving Demonstration:

1 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Pat Beard will demonstrate weaving on the loom for visitors to the co-op. For more information, visit the co-op website at www.42westarts.com or call 717-762-8394.

By combining yarns of different colors and textures, Beard is able to create unique and beautiful pieces using an “old-fashioned” loom. After the weaving, each panel is washed before being finished by hand. Beard has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Florida and is a juried member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen and the Cumberland Valley Craft Guild. June 12-16, 2017 – Find Your Sound: Unlocking Your Voice:

 

9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Music Makers – 46 W. Main St. 5 Sessions for $110. Join Joel Newman for a fun-filled class focused on getting your biggest, best voice, and improve your song practicing technique. Monday, June 12, 2017 – Oil Painting Class:

1 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Marjorie Tressler invites artists of all ability levels to attend her weekly painting class in Gallery 50 that will cover both oil and acrylic mediums. 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join the Artists’ Connection for their next monthly meeting. The group is open to all artists and those passionate about the arts. The meeting serves as an opportunity to share ideas, discuss art and the newest techniques you have learned, mentor younger artists, and generally inspire one another. Gallery 50Gallery 50’s (50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) Artwork by local and regional artists is on display and for sale. The walls are filled with fine art paintings in beautiful frames. The tables are covered with outstanding examples of pottery, wood work, jewelry, sculpture, cards and even hand made soaps. Truly an experience for the senses – especially with the addition of music performances during “Wine Down Friday.”

Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro

The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro (13 South Church

Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) brings together area potters of all skill levels and ages offering classes, workshops, and pottery sales.
