Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Through the Lens & Beyond, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more.  This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Wednesday, June 14, 2017 – Oil Painting Class:

12 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join Donna Bingaman at her weekly painting class every Wednesday while Patric Schlee provides ambient music designed to inspire! Each student benefits from her personal instruction and 40 years of experience. Each class is $15. Thursday, June 15, 2017 – Altered Book Class:


12 to 4 p.m. $40 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St.
, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Pamela Nelson will guide students through some of the techniques used to take an old book from something to read into a beautiful piece of art. There are no rules and all decorating techniques and materials can be used. Students must bring a hardback book with at least 150 pages. $40 fee includes cost of instruction and materials. Thursday, June 15, 2017 – Oil Painting Demonstration:

2 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Gallery 50 Curator, Marjorie Tressler, will be conducting her weekly demo covering a variety of subjects, including portraits, landscapes, and other genres. While there, enjoy our new window display “Down on the Farm” accompanied by new artwork featuring new artist Tina Stonestreet and frequent artists Steve Nevada and Tom Renner. Friday, June 16, 2017 – New Member Reception:

5 to 8 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. 42 West Arts Co-Op is holding a reception for new member and beadwork artist Kay Ackerman. Gallery members will also be there to exhibit artwork for their “Spring into Earth Day” show. Wine and light refreshments will be available as well as music by Patric Schlee. Ackerman is an associate professor of History at Wilson College and has been beading for 25 years. Her work has been shown at the Bogigian Gallery and the Chambersburg Council for the Arts. She takes her inspiration from nature, architecture, and historical decorative arts traditions. Friday, June 16, 2017 – Live Music Friday:

5:30-8 p.m. Music Makers, 46 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Singer-songwriter Cameron Molloy will bring his unique talents as a musical storyteller to Music Makers. His music is a marriage of traditional country with a bite of southern rock and blues. While there, browse the art of Gallery 50 and enjoy wine and light refreshments. Saturday, June 17, 2017 – Portrait Painting Demonstration:

12 to 2 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Co-Op member, Donna Bingaman, will be demonstrating the art of portrait painting. For more information, contact the co-op at 717-762-8394.

A graduate of the Washington School of Arts, Bingaman is a juried member of the Oil Painters of America and has won several awards for her work. In 2002, she was featured in a solo show at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown, MD. Her portraits are currently displayed in the Chambersburg Court House and Annex as well as in private collections.

Saturday, June 17, 2017 – Painting with Light:

1 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Photographer Andy Smetzer will be demonstrating a fun photographic technique that uses a flashlight in a dark area to “paint” your subject with light. Participation is encouraged! Saturday, June 17, 2017 – Walnut Street Studios Open House:

1 to 4 p.m. 117 Walnut St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Visit new artist and studio space for studio tours and a variety of demonstrations. While there, sign up for Beginner’s Handbuilding/Wheel Throwing Classes with Donte Moore and Nuts about Clay classes with Trudy Gembe-Palughi. June 19-23, 2017 – Improvising Rock Guitar:


9 a.m. to 12 p.m. Music Makers – 46 W. Main St. 5 Sessions for $110
. Learn time-worn solid rock guitar playing techniques for students ages 8 and older. Led by Joel Newman, students will learn how to “shake those strings” to wring the most out of your rock scales, and in the process learn more about music. Monday, June 19, 2017 – Oil Painting Class:

1 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Marjorie Tressler invites artists of all ability levels to attend her weekly painting class in Gallery 50 that will cover both oil and acrylic mediums. The tables are covered with outstanding examples of pottery, wood work, jewelry, sculpture, cards and even hand made soaps. Truly an experience for the senses – especially with the addition of music performances during “Wine Down Friday.”

Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro

The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro (13 South Church

Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) brings together area potters of all skill levels and ages offering classes, workshops, and pottery sales.
