Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Through the Lens & Beyond, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more.  This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Wednesday, July 5, 2017 – Oil Painting Class:

12 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join Donna Bingaman at her weekly painting class every Wednesday while Patric Schlee provides ambient music designed to inspire! Each student benefits from her personal instruction and 40 years of experience. Each class is $15. Wednesday, July 5, 2017 – Writers Forum:

5 to 7 p.m. Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library – 45 E. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Writers of all genres are welcome to join the monthly Writers Forum meeting which will include a picnic on the library patio. Thursday, July 6, 2017 – Oil Painting Class:

1 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Marjorie Tressler invites artists of all ability levels to attend her weekly painting class in Gallery 50 that will cover both oil and acrylic mediums. Normally held on Mondays, this week’s class will meet during Gallery hours and give visitors a live demonstration on the process of oil painting from a student’s perspective. These fun and relaxed sessions are $65 for 6 classes. Friday, July 7, 2017 – Featured Artist Reception:

6 to 8 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join 42 West Arts Co-Op members in celebrating the creative works of Becky Dietrich. Throughout the month of July, the co-op will feature her drawings of “Vignettes of Another Land” and Florentine Needle Weaving wall hangings and pillows. Dietrich is an active retiree at 91 and is a painter, print-maker, writer, traveler, folksinger, and historian. For 20 years, she operated A Little Gallery in Mont Alto and represented artists of the Cumberland Valley. She is a lifelong honorary member of the Cumberland Valley Craft Guild.

, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Nashville recording artist Jason Kabler will be performing a mix of old and new country and pop songs during our weekly concert series. Originally from Greencastle, PA, Kabler now lives in Nashville and recently signed a record deal with Heart Songs Corporation. Saturday, July 8, 2017 – Bead Embroidery Demonstration:

1 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Kay Ackerman will be in the gallery presenting a demonstration on the ancient art of beading. Ackerman uses shaped beads made in the Czech Republic as well as mixed media including painted metal filigree and glass tiles done in nail polish. Ackerman is an associate professor of History at Wilson College and has been beading for 25 years. Her work has been shown at the Bogigian Gallery and the Chambersburg Council for the Arts. She takes her inspiration from nature, architecture, and historical decorative arts traditions. Saturday, July 8, 2017 –Book Binding Demonstration:


1 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 West Main Street
, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Pamela Soaring Raven will be covering the basics of book binding, sharing techniques such as using templates, sewing with waxed linen thread, and preparing the text block. Saturday, July 8, 2017 –Second Saturday Chill Out Downtown:

Times and locations vary. Mainstreet Waynesboro, Destination ARTS! and the businesses of downtown Waynesboro are planning an afternoon of fun activities and special summer promotions for our community. Visit our Chill Out station from 2 to 4 p.m. at the M&T parking lot to meet members of the Waynesboro Fire Department who will be giving tours of their firetruck. A van from Sweet Frog will also be around selling frozen yogurt along with water from Roaring Spring Water. Kids wear a bathing suit because you might get wet! The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro will have a table set up for kids to create a free pottery craft to paint and decorate from 2 to 4 p.m. at the corner of South Church street and Main Street. The Waynesboro Children’s Theatre will be performing at Center Square from 2 to 4 p.m. followed by a performance by the popular Celtic band Across the Pond from 5 to 7 p.m. For more information, call 717-655-2500.

Sunday, July 9, 2017 – Community Book Club:

1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. All readers are invited to join the book club as they discuss the bestseller The Sellout by Paul Beatty. A biting satire about a young man’s isolated upbringing and the race trial that sends him to the Supreme Court, The Sellout showcases a comic genius at the top of his game. It challenges the sacred tenets of the United States Constitution, urban life, the civil rights movement, the father-son relationship, and the holy grail of racial equality―the black Chinese restaurant. The Community Book Club meets regularly on the first Sunday of each month. July 10-14, 2017 – “Music Together Jammin!” – Music Camp:

9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Music Makers – 46 W. Main St. 5 Sessions for $140 and includes family materials. This camp led by Susan Matson will provide opportunities for children (ages 5 to 7 years) to master basic music competence and will lay the foundations for basic music literacy. The group is open to all artists and those passionate about the arts. The meeting serves as an opportunity to share ideas, discuss art and the newest techniques you have learned, mentor younger artists, and generally inspire one another. Monday, June 10, 2017 – Songwriters’ Workshop:

7 p.m. Music Makers – 46 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join members of the Songwriters’ Workshop for their monthly meeting as they share their latest efforts writing a song based on the prompt of “How do you get rid of groundhogs?” For more information, contact Jonathan Ingelsat [email protected].

Participants are encouraged to write a song, lyric, or instrumental piece that is inspired by that month’s theme. All genres are welcome and participants share their results, process, feedback with one another. Once a quarter, the group performs their songs for the public.

July 11, 14, 18, 21, and Aug. 1, 2017 – Teen Wheel Throwing Classes:


6 to 8:30 p.m. $125 Ceramic Arts Studio of Waynesboro – 13 S. Church St.
, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Teens ages 13-17 are invited to learn the beginnings of wheel throwing during this series of classes beginning on July 11. Gallery 50Gallery 50’s (50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) Artwork by local and regional artists is on display and for sale. The walls are filled with fine art paintings in beautiful frames. The tables are covered with outstanding examples of pottery, wood work, jewelry, sculpture, cards and even hand made soaps. Truly an experience for the senses – especially with the addition of music performances during “Wine Down Friday.”

The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro (13 South Church

Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) brings together area potters of all skill levels and ages offering classes, workshops, and pottery sales.
