Destination ARTS! Performances and Events for July 12-18, 2017

Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Through the Lens & Beyond, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more.  This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Wednesday, July 12, 2017 – Oil Painting Class:

12 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join Donna Bingaman at her weekly painting class every Wednesday while Patric Schlee provides ambient music designed to inspire! Each student benefits from her personal instruction and 40 years of experience. Each class is $15. Thursday & Monday, July 13 & 17, 2017 – Oil Painting Class:

1 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Marjorie Tressler invites artists of all ability levels to attend her weekly painting class in Gallery 50 that will cover both oil and acrylic mediums. Normally held on Mondays, this week’s class will meet during Gallery hours and give visitors a live demonstration on the process of oil painting from a student’s perspective. These fun and relaxed sessions are $65 for 6 classes. Thursday, July 13, 2017 – Drum Circle:


7 to 8 p.m. $12 Music Makers – 46 W. Main St.
, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Tresa Day will teach participants of all ages to learn basic rhythms, play along to favorite songs, sports jams, and even commercials. Drums and percussion instruments are supplied or you may bring your own. Children 5 and under are free with a paid participant. Friday, July 14, 2017 – Musical Demonstration:

5:30 to 8 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Patric Schlee will entertain visitors with a variety of musical instruments, including the didgeridoo, flute, and drums. While there, be sure to look for the quilted and hand-crafted creations by guest artist Andrea Finch. Wine and light refreshments will be served. Friday, July 14, 2017 – Live Music Friday:

Ethan Larsh


5:30 to 8 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Enjoy an evening as “Piano Man” Ethan Larsh will be featured in tickling the ivories on Friday. Larsh delivers poppy, piano-driven music that’s sure to entertain fans of the Beatles and Harry Nilsson. For more information, call 717-655-2500.

Saturday, July 15, 2017 – Portrait Painting Demonstration:

12 to 2 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Co-Op member, Donna Bingaman, will be demonstrating the art of portrait painting. For more information, contact the co-op at 717-762-8394.

A graduate of the Washington School of Arts, Bingaman is a juried member of the Oil Painters of America and has won several awards for her work. In 2002, she was featured in a solo show at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown, MD. Her portraits are currently displayed in the Chambersburg Court House and Annex as well as in private collections.

Saturday, July 15, 2017 – Lace Weaving Demonstration:

1 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Pat Beard will demonstrate Leno Lace weaving on the loom for visitors to the co-op. For more information, call 717-762-8394.

By combining yarns of different colors and textures, Beard is able to create unique and beautiful pieces using an “old-fashioned” loom. After the weaving, each panel is washed before being finished by hand. Beard has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Florida and is a juried member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen and the Cumberland Valley Craft Guild. Saturday, July 15, 2017 – Children’s Ceramic Workshop:


1 to 3 p.m. $25 Ceramic Arts Studio of Waynesboro – 13 S. Church St.
, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Children ages 5 to 13 will receive step-by-step instruction in creating a ceramic hanging bird feeder, using a combination of slab and sculpture. Monday, July 17, 2017 – Songwriters’ Workshop:

7 p.m. Music Makers – 46 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join members of the Songwriters’ Workshop for their monthly meeting as they share their latest efforts writing a song based on the prompt of “A Food, a Town, and the Weather.” For more information, contact Jonathan Ingels at [email protected].

Participants are encouraged to write a song, lyric, or instrumental piece that is inspired by that month’s theme. All genres are welcome and participants share their results, process, feedback with one another. Once a quarter, the group performs their songs for the public.
