Destination ARTS! Performances and Events for July 26 – August 1, 2017

Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Through the Lens & Beyond, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more.  This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Wednesday, July 26, 2017 – Oil Painting Class:

12 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join Donna Bingaman at her weekly painting class every Wednesday while Patric Schlee provides ambient music designed to inspire! Each student benefits from her personal instruction and 40 years of experience. Each class is $15. Gallery visitors can watch Denny Bingaman as he he creates wildlife sculptures in clay. For more info or to register, call 717-762-8394.

Thursday, July 27, 2017 – Nuts About Clay Workshop:

1 to 3 p.m. or 7 to 9 p.m. $30 Walnut Street Studios – 117 Walnut St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Create an earring holder using stoneware clay to help organize your jewelry! You don’t have to be an artist to be successful at the workshop. Fee includes all materials and firings. Register by calling 717-729-7125 or email at [email protected].

Thursday, July 27, 2017 – Oil Painting Demonstration:

1 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Visitors to Gallery 50 are welcome to see a live demonstration on the learning process of painting from a student’s perspective. While there, browse through the art curated by Marjorie Tressler and find a unique gift!

July 28, 2017 – Musical Demonstration:

5:30 to 8 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Patric Schlee will entertain visitors with a variety of musical instruments, including the didgeridoo, flute, and drums. While there, be sure to look for the quilted and hand-crafted creations by guest artist Becky Dietrich. Wine and light refreshments will be served. Friday, July 28, 2017 – Live Music Friday:


5:30 to 8 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Singer-songwriter Destination ARTS! is presenting a Cabaret-Musical Theater Showcase that will feature a wide variety of songs from Broadway musicals as well as standards and lesser known gems. Featured singers will include Elisabeth Turchi, Deb Hollen, Gillian Austin, Kay Yaukey, Donovan YaukeyPatrick McNamee, Rennes Carbaugh, and Aaron Trusky, accompanied by pianist Valerie Merriman. In addition, Andrew Sussman will accompany Lisa Turchi on two songs from his original musicals. Wine and light refreshments will be served. Saturday, July 29, 2017 – Portrait Painting Demonstration:

12 to 2 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Co-Op member, Donna Bingaman, will be demonstrating the art of portrait painting. For more information, contact the co-op at 717-762-8394.

A graduate of the Washington School of Arts, Bingaman is a juried member of the Oil Painters of America and has won several awards for her work. In 2002, she was featured in a solo show at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown, MD. Her portraits are currently displayed in the Chambersburg Court House and Annex as well as in private collections.

July 29, 2017 – Wildlife Photography Discussion:

1 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Denny Bingaman will be having an open discussion session about his photo techniques on capturing the perfect wildlife shot. A photo blind will be set up along with his tripods, lenses, and other photo equipment.

Denny Bingaman is a native of Waynesboro, PA who uses wildlife imagery as a source of inspiration for much of his art, including photography, gourd carving, and sculpting. He is a member of the Audubon Society, the Nature Conservancy, and the Cornell Lab of Ornithology. His photography is on permanent display at the Wildwood Wildlife Sanctuary and Meritus Medical Center.

Monday, July 31, 2017 – Oil Painting Class:

1 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Marjorie Tressler invites artists of all ability levels to attend her weekly painting class in Gallery 50 that will cover both oil and acrylic mediums. Ongoing Shows

Gallery 50Gallery 50’s (50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) Artwork by local and regional artists is on display and for sale. The walls are filled with fine art paintings in beautiful frames. The tables are covered with outstanding examples of pottery, wood work, jewelry, sculpture, cards and even hand made soaps. Truly an experience for the senses – especially with the addition of music performances during “Wine Down Friday.”

The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro (13 South Church
