Destination ARTS! Performances and Events for Aug. 30-Sept. 5, 2017

Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Gallery 35 East, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more.  This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Wednesday, August 30, 2017 – Wildlife Sculpting and Oil Painting Class:

12 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join Donna Bingaman at her weekly painting class every Wednesday while Patric Schlee provides ambient music designed to inspire! Each student benefits from her personal instruction and 40 years of experience. Each class is $15. Thursday, August 31, 2017 – Oil Painting Demonstration:

1 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Visitors to Gallery 50 are welcome to see a live demonstration on the learning process of painting from a student’s perspective. While there, browse through the art curated by Marjorie Tressler and find a unique gift!

Friday, September 1, 2017 – Romancing the Canvas Exhibition & Reception:

5:30 to 8:30 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. 42 West ARTS Co-Op will host a reception celebrating their new exhibit featuring artwork from the students of co-op founding member Donna Bingaman. The Ken Jankura Jazz Trio
featuring Ken Jankura (vocals and upright bass), Joe Dennison (guitar), and Bob Jones (drums) will be playing jazz standards. The group is well-known throughout the region and has been playing contemporary jazz, blues, and other genres for more than 20 years. Wine and light refreshments will be available. Sunday, September 3, 2017 – Watercolor Demonstration:

1 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Janette Koons will be demonstrating how she creates watercolor paintings for visitors to the co-op. For more information, call 717-762-8394.

Koons relies on wildlife and rural life on the farm as inspirations for her paintings. Watercolor is her preferred medium as it allows her the pure spontaneity and freshness that she strives for in her work. She is a member of the Waynesboro Studio Art Club, Franklin County Art Alliance, and the Valley Art Association.

Sunday, September 3, 2017 – Community Book Club:

1:30 to 3:30 p.m. 32 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. All readers are invited to join the book club as they discuss the bestseller The Sympathizer by Viet Thanh Nguyen. 2 to 3:30 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Patric Schlee invites young and old to join him for a drum circle at the co-op on Sunday. Sunday, September 3, 2017 – Songwriter’s Master class:

2 to 4 p.m. Music Makers – 46 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join Nashville singer-songwriter and recording artist Jason Kabler for a songwriting workshop where he will give tips and pointers on how to write and market songs to be pitched to publishers. Kabler is the head of the Nashville Chapter of Global Songwriters Connection. He has written over 500 songs and recorded nine CD’s, and several independent cuts. Monday, September 4, 2017 – Oil Painting Class:

1 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Marjorie Tressler invites artists of all ability levels to attend her weekly painting class in Gallery 50 that will cover both oil and acrylic mediums.
