Destination ARTS! Performances and Events for Sept. 20-26, 2017

Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Gallery 35 East, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more.  This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Cold Cast Demo and Oil Painting Class:

12 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join Donna Bingaman at her weekly painting class every Wednesday while Patric Schlee provides ambient music designed to inspire! Each student benefits from her personal instruction and 40 years of experience. Each class is $15. Thursday, September 21, 2017 – Oil Painting Demonstration:

1 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Visitors to Gallery 50 are welcome to see a live demonstration on the learning process of painting from a student’s perspective. While there, browse through the art featuring pottery by new artist Judy Hoffman-Bolton and find a unique gift!

Friday, September 22, 2017 – Musical Demonstration:

5:30 to 8:30 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. 42 West ARTS Co-Op. Patric Schlee will entertain visitors with a variety of musical instruments, including the didgeridoo, flute, and drums. While there, view works of art by students of Donna Bingaman and artwork from co-op members for their “Dog Days of Summer” show. 5:30 to 8 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.


Mountain Ride, a Pennsylvania bluegrass band fancying both progressive and traditional facets of the genre will be playing at this week’s Live Music Friday performance. The group is composed of Eric Avey (guitar and vocals), Scott Matlock (fiddle and vocals), Corey Woodcock (banjo), Chance Hurley (mandolin), and Kate Avey (bass and vocals). Saturday, September 23, 2017 – Portrait Painting Demonstration:

12 to 2 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Co-Op member, Donna Bingaman, will be demonstrating the art of portrait painting. For more information, contact the co-op at 717-762-8394.

A graduate of the Washington School of Arts, Bingaman is a juried member of the Oil Painters of America and has won several awards for her work. In 2002, she was featured in a solo show at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown, MD. Her portraits are currently displayed in the Chambersburg Court House and Annex as well as in private collections.

Saturday, September 23, 2017 – Wood Burning Demonstration:

1 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Co-Op member, Ed Beard, will be demonstrating wood burning designs of eagles and feathers this Saturday. For more information, contact the co-op at 717-762-8394.

Beard has been a woodworker for the past 50 years and has exhibited in art shows and galleries since 1966. He is a graduate of St. John’s College and the University of Florida and is a member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsman, the Lincoln Highway Heritage Group, and the Woodworking Advisory Board.

Monday, September 25, 2017 – Oil & Acrylic Painting Class:

1 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Marjorie Tressler invites artists of all ability levels to attend her weekly painting class in Gallery 50 that will cover both oil and acrylic mediums. Marjorie is a classically trained artist who teaches drawing, color theory and composition in the style of the old masters. These fun and relaxed sessions are $65 for 6 classes. 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Gallery 50– 50 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join the Artists’ Connection for their next monthly meeting. The group is open to all artists and those passionate about the arts and includes a fifteen-minute demo. The meeting serves as an opportunity to share ideas, discuss art and the newest techniques you have learned, mentor younger artists, and generally inspire one another.
