Destination ARTS! Performances and Events for Nov. 8-14, 2017

Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Gallery 35 East, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more.  This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Wednesday, November 8, 2017 – Gourd Art Demo and Oil Painting Class:

12 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join Donna Bingaman at her weekly painting class every Wednesday while Patric Schlee provides ambient music designed to inspire! Each student benefits from her personal instruction and 40 years of experience. Each class is $15. Gallery visitors can watch Denny Bingaman sculpt gourds. For more info, call 717-762-8394.

Thursday, November 9, 2017 – Oil Painting Demonstration:

1 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Marjorie Tressler is facilitating a painting session and demo with a focus on the learning process of painting from a student’s perspective. While there, browse through the art featuring pottery by new artist Judy Hoffman-Bolton and find a unique gift!

Friday, November 10, 2017 – Musical Demonstration:


5:30 to 8 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St.
, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Patric Schlee will entertain visitors with a variety of musical instruments, including the didgeridoo, flute, and drums. Friday, November 10, 2017 – Gallery 50 Book Signing:

5 to 8 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.

Gallery 50 is pleased to host a book signing for Thom Tholen and his book “Steam! The Locomotives of Steamtown” and Beverly A. Hajek who wrote “CZECHered PAST.” Guests are invited to join the gallery for a reception and music by Thomas Roue. For more information, call 717-655-2500.

“Steam” is an educational tale about two siblings who embark on a great adventure inside Steamtown National Park. CZECHered PAST is a true story about a man born in 1890, the fate that changed his life and how he overcame heartbreaking obstacles.

Friday, November 10, 2017 – Live Music Friday:

5:30 to 8 p.m. Music Makers – 46 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.

 

Thomas Roue takes his turn entertaining audiences on Friday with his blend of folk, rock, and blues. Wine and light refreshments will be served. This performance is sponsored by Paul Gunder and Coldwell Banker. For more information, call 717-655-2500.

Roue is based out of Gettysburg and can often be seen performing as the lead singer of Pale Barn Ghosts, whose music has been described as “haunting cemetery folk.” He believes his lyrics speak to the idea “that life, death and love are the only themes that really count.”

Friday, November 10, 2017 – Snowmen Napkin Rings Workshop:


6 to 8 p.m. $30 Ceramic Arts Center – 13 S. Church St.
, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Heidi Kenney will guide students aged 13 and up to create six snowmen napkin rings out of stoneware clay. No experience necessary! Workshop price includes all materials, glaze and firings. For more information, call 717-404-3190.

Gallery 35 East – 35 E. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17286. Gallery 35 East will be having a photography exhibit of the 2017 Renfrew Park Civil War Reenactment. The exhibit will feature photography by Rodney Clark, Andy Smetzer, Drew Clevenger, and Noel Kline. Saturday will feature a special reception with some of the reenactors. Saturday, November 11, 2017 – Portrait Painting Class:

12 to 2 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Co-Op member, Donna Bingaman, will be demonstrating the art of portrait painting. For more information, contact the co-op at 717-762-8394.

A graduate of the Washington School of Arts, Bingaman is a juried member of the Oil Painters of America and has won several awards for her work. In 2002, she was featured in a solo show at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown, MD. Her portraits are currently displayed in the Chambersburg Court House and Annex as well as in private collections.

Saturday, November 11, 2017 – Children’s Turkey Pumpkin Kit:


1 to 3 p.m. $25 Ceramic Arts Center – 13 S. Church St.
, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Heather Forberger will guide children through the process of making a set of turkey parts that can be used to create a turkey pumpkin using a combination of slab and sculpture. Workshop price includes all materials, glaze and firings. To register call 717-404-3190.

Saturday, November 11, 2017 – Wildlife Slide Show:


1 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St.
, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Denny Bingaman will be presenting a slideshow of his nature photography for visitors to the gallery. Bingaman photographs birds and wildlife from all over the country and has catalogued almost 65,000 images.

Monday, November 13, 2017 – Oil & Acrylic Painting Class:

1 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Marjorie Tressler invites artists of all ability levels to attend her weekly painting class in Gallery 50 that will cover both oil and acrylic mediums. Marjorie is a classically trained artist who teaches drawing, color theory and composition in the style of the old masters. These fun and relaxed sessions are $65 for 6 classes. Monday, November 13, 2017 – Artists Connection:

6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Walnut Street Studios– 117 Walnut St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join the Artists’ Connection for their next monthly meeting at their new location, which will alternate every month. The group is open to all artists and those passionate about the arts and includes a fifteen-minute demo. The meeting serves as an opportunity to share ideas, discuss art and the newest techniques you have learned, mentor younger artists, and generally inspire one another. Gallery 50Gallery 50’s (50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) Artwork by local and regional artists is on display and for sale. The walls are filled with fine art paintings in beautiful frames. The tables are covered with outstanding examples of pottery, wood work, jewelry, sculpture, cards and even hand made soaps. Truly an experience for the senses – especially with the addition of music performances during “Wine Down Friday.”
