Destination ARTS! Performances and Events for Nov. 15 – 21, 2017

Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Gallery 35 East, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more.  This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Wednesday, November 15, 2017 – Gourd Art Demo and Oil Painting Class:

12 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join Donna Bingaman at her weekly painting class every Wednesday while Patric Schlee provides ambient music designed to inspire! Each student benefits from her personal instruction and 40 years of experience. Each class is $15. Gallery visitors can watch Denny Bingaman burn and dye gourds. For more info, call 717-762-8394.

Wednesday, November 15, 2017 – Open Mic Nite:


7 to 9 p.m. Music Makers – 46 W. Main St.
, Waynesboro, PA 17268. The Arts Alliance is pleased to once again present Open Mic Nite at Music Makers. Local artists are invited to participate in a session facilitated by Brad Munn. Thursday, November 16, 2017 – Oil Painting Demonstration:

1 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Marjorie Tressler is facilitating a painting session and demo with a focus on the learning process of painting from a student’s perspective. While there, browse through the art featuring pottery by new artist Judy Hoffman-Bolton and find a unique gift!

 Thursday, November 16, 2017 – Nuts About Clay Workshop:


1 to 3 p.m. or 7 to 9 p.m. $30 Walnut Street Studios – 117 Walnut St.

Friday, November 17, 2017 – Musical Demonstration:


5:30 to 8 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St.
, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Patric Schlee will entertain visitors with a variety of musical instruments, including the didgeridoo, flute, and drums. Friday, November 17, 2017 – Live Music Friday:

5:30 to 8 p.m. Music Makers – 46 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.

Mountain Air will be performing their mix of acoustic contemporary folk and pop country this Friday. Wine and light refreshments will be served. For more information, call 717-655-2500.

Mountain Air is comprised of Bobbi Smith (guitar and vocals), Bob Murphy (upright bass), and Lisa Donohoe (mandolin and vocals). Smith and Donohoe began performing together as members of the Blue Ridge String Band and later, Back Porch Music in the 1990s. When they formed their own group, Mountain Air was born with Murphy later joining in 2009. The band performs at festivals, private concerts, wineries, special occasions, and art galleries.

Friday, November 17, 2017 – Gallery 50 Book Signing:

5 to 8 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268.

Todd Dorsett and others from the Potomac Street Irregulars will be signing copies of their book “Murder Most Foul-The proceedings of the Potomac Street Irregulars, Vol 2” at Gallery 50.

Local author Maxine Beck will also be signing the next book in her series, The Royers of Renfrew called “Branches in the Wind”. Guests are invited to join the gallery for a reception and music by Mountain Air. For more information, call 717-655-2500.

Friday, November 17, 2017 – All About Color and Small Works Gallery Show:

5 to 8 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St. Waynesboro, PA 17268. Gallery 50 invites visitors to view new displays “All About Color” featuring art by Katrina Hoopes and Keely Neubauer and “Small Works” featuring artwork by Susan McGinley. Saturday, November 18, 2017 – Portrait Painting Class:

12 to 2 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Co-Op member, Donna Bingaman, will be demonstrating the art of portrait painting. For more information, contact the co-op at 717-762-8394.

A graduate of the Washington School of Arts, Bingaman is a juried member of the Oil Painters of America and has won several awards for her work. In 2002, she was featured in a solo show at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown, MD. Her portraits are currently displayed in the Chambersburg Court House and Annex as well as in private collections.

Saturday, November 18, 2017 – Wood Burning Demonstration:

1 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Co-Op member, Ed Beard, will be demonstrating wood burning designs of eagles and feathers this Saturday. For more information, contact the co-op at 717-762-8394.

Beard has been a woodworker for the past 50 years and has exhibited in art shows and galleries since 1966. He is a graduate of St. John’s College and the University of Florida and is a member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsman, the Lincoln Highway Heritage Group, and the Woodworking Advisory Board.

Monday, November 20, 2017 – Oil & Acrylic Painting Class:

1 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Marjorie Tressler invites artists of all ability levels to attend her weekly painting class in Gallery 50 that will cover both oil and acrylic mediums. Marjorie is a classically trained artist who teaches drawing, color theory and composition in the style of the old masters. These fun and relaxed sessions are $65 for 6 classes. Gallery 50Gallery 50’s (50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) Artwork by local and regional artists is on display and for sale. The walls are filled with fine art paintings in beautiful frames. The tables are covered with outstanding examples of pottery, wood work, jewelry, sculpture, cards and even hand made soaps. Truly an experience for the senses – especially with the addition of music performances during “Wine Down Friday.”

The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro (13 South Church

Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) brings together area potters of all skill levels and ages offering classes, workshops, and pottery sales.
