Destination ARTS! Performances and Events for Dec. 6-12, 2017

Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Gallery 35 East, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more.  This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Wednesday, December 6, 2017 – Wildlife Slide Show and Oil Painting Class:

12 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join Donna Bingaman at her weekly painting class every Wednesday while Patric Schlee provides ambient music designed to inspire! Each student benefits from her personal instruction and 40 years of experience. Each class is $15. Gallery visitors can watch a slide show featuring wildlife photography taken by Denny Bingaman over the past 30 years. For more info, call 717-762-8394.

Wednesday, December 6, 2017 – Writers Forum:

5 to 7 p.m. Alexander Hamilton Memorial Free Library – 45 E. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Writers of all genres are welcome to join the monthly Writers Forum meeting on the second-floor classroom of the library. Writers are asked to contribute poetry, either your own or a favorite poem. The Writers Forum meets on the first Wednesday of each month to share contributions that usually pertain to a selected subject. After the initial ‘round and round’ contributors can share works on other subjects – be it prose, memoirs, or story-telling. Visitors are welcome as well as ideas for future meetings.

Thursday, December 7, 2017 – Oil Painting Demonstration:

1 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Marjorie Tressler is facilitating a painting session and demo with a focus on the learning process of painting from a student’s perspective. While there, check our Winter White display with Samantha the Snow Queen and artwork featuring winter scenes.

 Friday, December 8, 2017 – Musical Demonstration:

5:30 to 8 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Patric Schlee will entertain visitors with a variety of musical instruments, including the didgeridoo, flute, and drums. While there, enjoy pieces of art from the members’ Fire & Ice Show as well as pieces from December and January’s featured artist Terry Lynn Benson. Wine and light refreshments will be served. Friday, December 8, 2017 – Live Music Friday:

5:30 to 8 p.m. Music Makers – 46 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Experience the unique and traditional American music of Dearest Home. The group boasts expressive vocals with rich, next-of-kin harmonies interwoven with sprightly dance tunes. The group features the talents of Chris Barnabei, Beth Folkemer, Margaret Folkemer, Stephen Folkemer, and Chuck Krepley. Wine and light refreshments will be available. Friday, December 8, 2017 – Teen & Up Tea Bag Holder:

6 to 8 p.m. $25 Ceramic Arts Studio of Waynesboro – 13 S. Church St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Heidi Kenney will guide students step-by-step to make a set of four ceramic tea bag holders. Each holder is made from durable stoneware clay and can be painted with colorful underglazes. Fee includes all materials, glazes, and firings. Sunday, December 10, 2017 – Gallery 35 Book Signing:

1 to 4 p.m. Gallery 35 East – 35 E. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Maxine Beck will be signing copies of her new book, “Branches in the Wind” the fourth volume in her Royers of Renfrew series. Monday, December 11, 2017 – Oil & Acrylic Painting Class:

1 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Marjorie Tressler invites artists of all ability levels to attend her weekly painting class in Gallery 50 that will cover both oil and acrylic mediums. Marjorie is a classically trained artist who teaches drawing, color theory and composition in the style of the old masters. These fun and relaxed sessions are $65 for 6 classes. Monday, December 11, 2017 – Artists Connection:

6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join the Artists’ Connection for their monthly meeting at Gallery 50. The group is open to all artists and those passionate about the arts and includes a fifteen-minute demo at 7 p.m. The meeting serves as an opportunity to share ideas, discuss art and the newest techniques you have learned, mentor younger artists, and generally inspire one another. Gallery 50Gallery 50’s (50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) Artwork by local and regional artists is on display and for sale. The walls are filled with fine art paintings in beautiful frames. The tables are covered with outstanding examples of pottery, wood work, jewelry, sculpture, cards and even hand made soaps. Truly an experience for the senses – especially with the addition of music performances during “Wine Down Friday.”
