The Arts Alliance of Greater Waynesboro (AAGW) is looking for an enthusiastic, responsible person with strong communication and organizational skills to help with Destination ARTS! over the summer, and possibly beyond.  Are you interested?

Destination ARTS! Assistant

Hourly position, non-exempt, 15 – 25 hours per week – reports to AAGW Board President

The Destination ARTS! Assistant will be responsible for ensuring a smooth transition of all events and activities associated with Destination ARTS!  Reporting to the AAGW Board President, h/she will also work occasionally with Gallery Curators, the Marketing Committee, the Performing Arts Committee, and the Event Coordinator.  The position will be filled as soon as possible, and will extend from the hire date through October 5, 2014.  There is the possibility that it may be extended beyond that date into a long-term position.

Specific responsibilities include management of the following:

  • Volunteers – work with gallery curators to manage the volunteer list, ensuring there are responsible docents in all AAGW galleries during scheduled hours, as well as seeking new volunteers and organizing training sessions.  If positions are not filled with volunteers, the Operations Manager will be expected to spend some time as a docent in galleries.
  • Performing Arts Operations – organize setup and teardown for performances and events, including greeting musicians and setup of chairs and informational table.  If volunteers are not found for this task the Operations Manager will be responsible for it.
  • Marketing – work to help promote Destination ARTS! May involve contact with the media, artists, musicians, and marketing committee members.
  • Troubleshooting – when downtown, will be one of the key people available to deal with any problems which may arise, working with the Board President and Curators.

QUALIFICATIONS AND BENEFITS

We are looking for an enthusiastic, responsible person with strong communication and organizational skills.  Must be willing to spend a large amount of time in downtown Waynesboro and work on weekends.  No health benefits at this time.
