Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Through the Lens & Beyond, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more.  This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Monday, Feb. 20, 2017 – Oil Painting Class: Marjorie Tressler

1-4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Marjorie Tressler invites artists of all ability levels to attend her weekly painting class in Gallery 50 that will cover both oil and acrylic mediums. Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017 – Gourd Art Demo and Oil Class Demonstration:

Join Donna Bingaman at her weekly painting class every Wednesday while Patric Schlee provides ambient music designed to inspire! Each student benefits from her personal instruction and 40 years of experience. Each class is $15. Thursday, Feb. 23, 2016 – Traditional Book Binding Class:

$35, course fees. $15 payable for materials. 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Learn a short history of the creation of books and the basic techniques of book binding taught by Pamela Nelson.

Each student will leave with their own hand-sewn journal. No experience necessary and appropriate for teenagers and adults. Contact 42 West Arts Co-Op to register and for list of supplies needed.

Thursday, Feb. 23, 2017 – Oil Painting Demonstration:

Marjorie Tressler2-4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Curator and director Marjorie Tressler will be conducting her weekly demo covering a variety of subjects, including portraits, landscapes, and other genres. While there, be sure to view the gallery’s “Winter White” show featuring Steve Nevada’s impressionistic paintings as well as works by two of the region’s accomplished artists, Tom Renner and Liz Hurley. Tressler is a juried member of the Oil Painters of America for 18 years as well as a certified member of the Maryland Society of Portrait Painters for over 20 years. Her art teaching career started with the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in 1994 after being featured in a solo portrait show in 1993.

5:30 to 8 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Destination ARTS! presents the Chambersburg Community Theatre and Friends. Accompanied by Woody Payne, performers from CCT and the Washington County Playhouse will perform a variety of songs from stage musicals and shows. Wine and light refreshments will be available. Friday, Feb. 24, 2017 – Corks and Clay Workshop: tripodcups

6-8 p.m. $25 Ceramic Arts Studio of Waynesboro – 13 South Church Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Stay warm with a cup of coffee, tea, or hot chocolate in a custom-made tripod cup created by you! Cups are made from durable stoneware clay that is food, oven, and microwave safe. Workshop fees include all materials, glazes, and firings. Patric Schlee will entertain visitors with a variety of musical instruments, including the didgeridoo, flute, and drums. Visitors should also be sure to view pieces from the “Winter Wonderland Members Show.” Wine and light refreshments will be served. Saturday, Feb. 25, 2017 – Portrait Painting Demonstration:

12-2 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Co-Op member, Donna BingamanDonna Bingaman, will be demonstrating the art of portrait painting. For more information, contact the co-op at 717-762-8394.

A graduate of the Washington School of Arts, Bingaman is a juried member of the Oil Painters of America and has won several awards for her work. In 2002, she was featured in a solo show at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown, MD. Her portraits are currently displayed in the Chambersburg Court House and Annex as well as in private collections.

Saturday, Feb. 25, 2016 – Suminagashi Demonstration: 1-4 p.m.pamela-nelson

Pamela Nelson will be demonstrating the ancient art of Suminagashi which is the Japanese technique of marbling plain paper with water and ink.
