The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro, 13 South Church St., is offering two series of introductory classes for adults. Taught by Mary Ashe-Mahr, “Introduction to Ceramics Studio” is a hands-on class where participants will learn to make hand built pieces, throw on a wheel, and trim and glaze finished pieces. Each class is held over four days, and there are two options available for students.
Option #1 runs Sunday, November 3, 12 pm – 5 pm; Tuesday, November 5, 5 pm – 7 pm; Tuesday, November 12, 5 pm – 7 pm; and Sunday, November 17, 12 pm – 4 pm.
Option #2 runs Sunday, December 1, 12 pm – 5 pm; Tuesday, December 3, 5 pm – 7 pm; Tuesday, December 10, 5 pm – 7 pm; and Sunday, December 15, 12 pm – 4 pm.
Fee for either class is $200, which includes all materials.
In addition, two short classes for children will also be offered. Taught by Nickole Bricker, budding potters between the ages of 8 and 13 will learn pottery fundamentals, decorate coasters, and make pendants and Christmas decorations.
“Coaster and Pendant Making Workshop for Kids” will be offered on Saturday, November 23, from 1 – 4 pm. “Christmas Decorations Workshop” will be offered on Saturday, December 14, 1 – 4 pm. The fee for each of these classes is $25 per child and includes all supplies.
All classes are held at the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro, 13 S. Church Street. This newly opened 2,500 square foot facility includes six potter wheels, tables, and a 10 electric kiln, with a gas kiln to be added in the near future.

The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro continues to be open to the public every weekend through October 27 as one of the art galleries featured in Destination ARTS! A wide variety of beautiful pottery is available for sale on Fridays 5 – 8 pm, Saturdays 11 am – 6 pm, and Sundays 12 – 4 pm.
