“Destination ARTS!” Gallery Events – Thursday, November 13 – Sunday, November 16

“Destination ARTS!” activities continue in Waynesboro with special events and live music scheduled at Gallery 50, Gallery 20 East and 42 West ARTS Co-Op. The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro and The Contemporary School of the Arts & Gallery will also have art and pottery for sale and art classes available. All galleries are open each week from Thursday through Sunday.

This week, extended holiday hours begin on Fridays, with galleries now opening at noon, instead of 5:00 p.m. The schedule for the other days remains Thursdays from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m., Saturdays from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m. and Sundays from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

Trinity Players Present… A Disney Revue!

Trinity Players
present a Disney Revue November 14-16 at Trinity United Church of Christ in Waynesboro, PA. The cast includes representatives from the Waynesboro community and surrounding areas and range in age from five years old through senior citizen. Participants will be singing and dancing their way through classic Disney songs from Peter Pan to Frozen! Popular tunes such as “Part of Your World” from The Little Mermaid, “Be Our Guest” from Beauty and the Beast, “Colors of the Wind” from Pocahontas, “Supercalifragilisticexpealidocious” from Mary Poppins, “The Circle of Life” from The Lion King, and “Let It Go” from Frozen will be performed along with sixteen additional favorites. The production is being directed by Deb Hollen and accompanied by Valerie Merriman and Bill Sievers. This is a musical event for the whole family!

Artist Demonstrations –

Marjorie TresslerMarjorie Tressler’s weekly painting demonstration is set to begin at 1:00 on Thursday afternoon inside of Gallery 50.

Donna BingamanDonna Bingaman will be painting in oil between the hours of 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon inside 42 West Art Co-op. A native of Waynesboro, Bingaman specializes in creating portraits, still life and illustrations of sculptures.

Wine Down Friday

WineDone“Wine Down Friday” receptions, featuring wine and light refreshments, are scheduled from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gallery 50, Gallery 20 East, 42 West ARTS Co-Op and The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro.

No strangers to the “Destination ARTS!” initiative, Ken Jankura (bass) and Joe Dennison (guitar) will be playing live jazz at Gallery 50 on “Wine Down” Friday evening.

A special reception is planned at Gallery 50, where new art shows will be opening. The east window of the gallery will display “Winter White” while “A Study of the Figure” can be viewed in the west window. Visitors who take a look inside will see projects created by the faculty of the Schuler School of Fine Arts in Baltimore. The list of artists contributing their work to the exhibit includes Francesca Guerin, Andrew Guerin, Hans Guerin, Beth De Loiselle, John Patrillo, Fritz Briggs and David Buckley Good.

Gallery 20 East

The Rolling Coyotes300Waynesboro welcomes The Rolling Coyotes  back on Friday night. Featuring Steve Warner on guitar, ukulele and harmonica, Andy Mosholder on bass and cello and Elliot Simon on piano, accordion and bass, the trio last brought their variety of folk, swing, jazz, country and rock songs to a “Wine Down Friday” event in March. This week, they’ll be performing in Gallery 20 East.

Visitors can listen to their music as they enjoy artwork such as “Through the Lens” photography and paintings by the Prometheans.

 42 West ARTS Co-Op

Patric SchleePatric Schlee is set to continue the tradition of providing music on his flute and drums for the reception held at 42 West ARTS Co-Op.

 

All of the performances in the galleries are scheduled to begin at 5:30 p.m.

Gallery 50 Gallery 50

Located at 50 West Main Street, the largest of the galleries, Gallery 50, is filled with hundreds of pieces of art in many media. A wide variety of new artwork is on display at Gallery 50 this weekend. Anyone visiting the gallery will have the opportunity to purchase colorful Bargello wool pillows created by Becky Dietrich, pen and ink drawings from Carrie Dietrich or Kay Ackerman’s latest bracelets. John Mullican’s two oil paintings, “Wood Duck” and “House Wren,” can now be viewed at the gallery, as well as his most recent terracotta bust, “American Indian.”

Katrina Hoopes has continued to paint a more of her favorite dogs from the Antietam Humane Society, and 50% of her commission sales are donated to AHS.

Gallery20EastThe “Through the Lens” photographers now share this gallery with a group of serious-minded artists known as the “Prometheans.” Composed of regional artists such as Marjorie Tressler, Liz Hurley, Eliane Ambrose and Donna Mason, the “Prometheans” say their purpose is to motivate, inspire and share ideas with anyone who views what they’ve created.

42 West ARTS Co-Op

"42 West Arts Co-op" membersLocated at 42 West Main Street, 42 West ARTS Co-Op is featuring two exhibits, one is a collection of Abstracts while the other is a grouping of miniatures. Each exhibit is a collection of works from numerous artists. The Co-Op has an extremely wide variety of pieces in a wide array of media, paintings, prints, collage, fabric art, photographs, wind chimes, ceramics, sculpure, and more.

 Contemporary School of the Arts and Gallery

SantaPicturesLocated at 10 East Main Street, The Contemporary School of the Arts and Gallery is an independently operated gallery and school. The CS&G is open during the Destination ARTS! hours with a display gallery of items for sale. They also offer art classes and after-school activities.
