“Destination ARTS!” Gallery Events – Thursday, March 26 – Sunday, March 29

destination-arts-poster-small1“Destination ARTS!” activities continue in Waynesboro with special events and live music scheduled at Gallery 50, Gallery 20 East and 42 West ARTS Co-Op. The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro and The Contemporary School of the Arts & Gallery will also have art and pottery for sale and art classes available.

Marjorie TresslerAnyone interested in learning more about the “Old Masters” painting technique can stop by Gallery 50 on Thursday afternoon. Marjorie Tressler is set to begin demonstrating her craft at 1:00.

WineDone“Wine Down Friday” receptions, featuring live music, wine and light refreshments, are scheduled from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gallery 50, Gallery 20 East, 42 West ARTS Co-Op and The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. All musical performances set for inside of the galleries will begin at 5:30.

Ken JankuraKen Jankura (vocals, bass) and Joe Dennison (guitar) will return to downtown Waynesboro on Friday night to provide the music for the reception planned at Gallery 50. The duo’s jazz sounds have been heard as part of the “Destination ARTS!” initiative on several occasions in the past, and now, guests can enjoy them while experiencing a new variety of artwork.Gallery 50

“Celebrate Gallery 50” is the name of the latest show on display in the west window of the gallery, while the east window features floral paintings, photographs and sculptures depicting a seasonal theme of spring and summer.

Patric SchleePatric Schlee’s weekly tradition of bringing his flute, drums and guitar to the reception at 42 West ARTS Co-Op will continue on Friday night.

Donna BingamanDonna Bingaman will be back at 42 ARTS on Saturday afternoon to discuss and demonstrate the process she uses when painting portraits and pets. Starting on Saturday, April 4, the graduate of the Washington School of Art will also offer a three-week series of painting classes at 42 West ARTS from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. People interested in participating are asked to call 717-762-8394.

CD Release Party

Another weekend of entertainment comes to a close on Sunday afternoon with a special “CD Release Party” in Gallery 50. Waylon K. Smith and Jim Taylor, better known to audiences across Franklin County as The Positronic Cats, will be on Main Street between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00 p.m. to perform songs from their new Extended Play (EP), titled “Love is Impossible.”

created by David Ross will remain on the walls of The Contemporary School of the Arts & Gallery until the end of March.

These performances are supported in part by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.

“Destination ARTS!” currently features six galleries –

Gallery 50 (50 West Main Street)
Gallery 20 East (20 East Main Street)
42 West ARTS (42 West Main Street)
The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro (13 South Church Street)
The Contemporary School of the Arts & Gallery (10 East Main Street)

Together, the galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, fiber arts, sculpture, photographs, furniture, prints and much more. They are open each week as follows:

Thursdays from 1:00 to 4:00 ( Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only)
Fridays from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m.
Saturdays from 12:00 to 6:00 p.m.
Sundays from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
