Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Through the Lens & Beyond, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more. This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.
Wednesday, June 8, 2016 – FREE Oil Painting Classes: 12-3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Donna Bingaman will be offering free painting classes every Wednesday in June starting June 8. Students of all ability levels will learn how to paint in oil or acrylic, using color, values, and composition. Register at 42 West ARTS Co-Op or call 717-762-8394.
A graduate of the Washington School of Arts, Bingaman is a juried member of the Oil Painters of America and has won several awards for her work. In 2002, she was featured in a solo show at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown, MD. Her portraits are currently displayed in the Chambersburg Court House and Annex as well as in private collections.
Thursday, June 9, 2016 – Gallery Talks: 2 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Curator and Director Marjorie Tressler will be starting a new series of gallery talks in Gallery 50 every Thursday. Each week will feature a discussion on the various regional and local artists featured in Gallery 50, including information on their background, latest works, and art genre. Tressler teaches art locally and has conducted classes at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, where her portraits were featured in a solo show in 1993. She is a former student of the Schuler School of Fine Arts and has studied with several nationally known and prominent local artists over the last 35 years. Tressler has been Gallery 50’s lead curator and director since 2013.

Gray is the winner of the 20th Annual Billie Holiday Vocal Competition and one of the area’s most popular performers, Gray is often compared to jazz icons such as Etta James, Ella Fitzgerald, and Diana Krall. She has shared the stage with artists such as Stellar Award Winner Isaiah Thomas and opened for Grammy and Dove award winners CeCe Winans and Vickie Winans.
Friday, June 10, 2016 – Wine Down Friday: 5:30-8 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Wayne Driscoll, a member of the band Lucky Punk, will be playing in Gallery 50 on Friday. Driscoll will be bringing his bold and energetic approach to the electric guitar. His performances include a variety of original songs and classic covers with a unique spin. Saturday, June 11, 2016 – Wood Burning Demonstration: 1-3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Beard has been a woodworker for the past 50 year and has exhibited in art shows and galleries since 1966. Sunday, June 12, 2016 – Magical Experience: 2-4 p.m. Center Square, Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Bring the kids to Center Square, Waynesboro for balloon animals with Miss Penelope at 2 p.m. followed by a Magical Experience by David Wayne at 2:30 p.m.
David Wayne Bowers has been performing magic since 1996. He is a member of The Society of American Magicians and was recently installed as the National President at the S.A.M Annual Convention in Philadelphia. He is also a member of the International Brotherhood of Magicians, and the Magicians Alliance of Eastern States. He has performed in various “King Magic Ring” presentations, including “The Festival of Magic” at the Maryland Theater and the Apollo Theater in Martinsburg, WV. Bowers has also appeared at the World Bank in Washington, D.C. for their children’s day festival. “Miss Penelope” (Judy Bowers) is a retired WASD teacher who has 35 years of experience working with children. In addition to creating balloon animals, she also assists with the magic shows.

Monday, June 13, 2016 – NEW! – Artists’ Connection Group: 6:30-8:30 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Starting Monday, June 13, all artists and artisans are invited to join a new monthly discussion group aimed to connect one another. The group will provide a fun and convenient social opportunity for anyone wanting to share ideas, art techniques, upcoming regional show dates, receive and provide mentoring, and inspire one another. Participants are encouraged to bring their latest art projects for those in attendance to view and enjoy. There are no fees or club/membership requirements.
