Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Through the Lens & Beyond, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more. This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.
Now thru Sept. 2 – Children’s Scavenger Hunt:
Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Children are invited to participate in a Destination ARTS! Scavenger Hunt starting at Gallery 50. As “DA Detectives,” they will solve clues relating to the works of art on display. Prizes will be awarded upon completion of the scavenger hunt, which will take them to four galleries clustered within two blocks. Successful detectives will also be eligible to win a grand prize to be drawn on September 2.
Thursday, Sept. 1, 2016 – Oil Painting Demonstration:
2-4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Curator and director Marjorie Tressler will be conducting an oil painting demonstration featuring a large landscape. For more information, call 717-655-2915.
Tressler teaches art locally and has conducted classes at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, where her portraits were featured in a solo show in 1993. She is a former student of the Schuler School of Fine Arts and has studied with several nationally known and prominent local artists over the last 35 years. Tressler has been Gallery 50’s lead curator and director since 2013.
Friday, Sept. 2, 2016 – Romancing the Canvas Exhibition:
5:30-8:30 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op & Gallery – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. 42 West ARTS Co-Op will host a reception celebrating their new exhibit featuring artwork from the students of co-op founding member Donna Bingaman. The Pale Barn Ghosts – 5:30-8 p.m. – Center Square, Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. The Pale Barn Ghosts will be bringing their blend of Americana, acoustic, and Indie rock to Center Square for the last Summer in the Square performance of 2016. Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016 – Portrait Painting Demonstration:

A graduate of the Washington School of Arts, Bingaman is a juried member of the Oil Painters of America and has won several awards for her work. In 2002, she was featured in a solo show at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts in Hagerstown, MD. Her portraits are currently displayed in the Chambersburg Court House and Annex as well as in private collections.
Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016 – Potters’ Wheel Demonstration:

Rod Meyer and his wife Karri Benedict will be working in clay and demonstrating how they create stoneware and decorative Raku pottery. Rod Meyer and Karri Benedict have been making pottery together for more than 37 years. Their work shows a great respect for fine craftsmanship and their sense of design is strongly influenced by function. They produce a full line of pieces for the home that are lead-free and dishwasher, microwave, and oven safe. They are both juried members of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen and own and operate Willow Creek Pottery.
Saturday, Sept. 3, 2016 – Wood Burning Demonstration:

Beard has been a woodworker for the past 50 years and has exhibited in art shows and galleries since 1966. He is a graduate of St. John’s College and the University of Florida and is a member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsman, the Lincoln Highway Heritage Group, and the Woodworking Advisory Board.
