“Destination ARTS!” activities continue in Waynesboro with special events and live music scheduled at Gallery 50, Gallery 20 East and 42 West ARTS Co-Op. The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro and The Contemporary School of the Arts & Gallery will also have art and pottery for sale and art classes available.
A pair of oil painting demonstrations are scheduled to begin at 1:00 on Thursday afternoon. Marjorie Tressler will be illustrating the “Old Masters” technique inside of Gallery 50, while impressionist Donna Bingaman is set to showcase her skills at the 42 West ARTS Co-Op.
“Wine Down Friday” receptions, featuring live music, wine and light refreshments, are scheduled from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gallery 50, Gallery 20 East, 42 West ARTS Co-Op and The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. All musical performances set for inside of the galleries will begin at 5:30.
Folk songs and classical pieces such as Muzio Clementi’s “Sonatina in C Major” and Antonio Vivaldi’s “Concerto in A” can be heard at Gallery 50’s reception. Ruth Showalter (cello), Petra Showalter (violin), Maddie Britner (violin) and Marina Addlesberger (voice and piano) will provide a preview of a program that they are scheduled to present as part of the Cumberland Valley School of Music’s Performathon on Saturday.
Patric Schlee will again be using flute, drums and guitar to make music at 42 West ARTS Co-Op’s reception.
Rod Meyer is set to come to 42 West ARTS Co-Op on Saturday. The native of Portland, Ore. will be working with clay on the potter’s wheel between the hours of 1:00 and 3:00 p.m. A juried member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen, Meyer now operates a studio in Waynesboro and produces a fully functional line of household items, which can be used in the kitchen, bathroom and throughout the entire home.
The soulful sounds of Kerensa Gray return to Main Street at 2:00 on Sunday afternoon. The jazz singer regularly performs at a variety of venues across the region and has developed a passionate fan base along the way. Gray’s latest venue will be Gallery 20 East as she continues to promote her CD, entitled “Bliss.”
The character drawings of David Ross remain on display at The Contemporary School of the Arts & Gallery throughout the month of March, and David Gibney’s exhibit known as “The Crash of the Forgotten American Work Force” has been extended until the end of June.
Donna Bingaman will offer another series of painting classes at 42 West ARTS Co-Op for three straight weeks starting on Saturday, April 4. The fine artist plans to teach her students how to create art using a variety of compositions, colors and values. All of the classes are scheduled from 1:00 and 4:00 p.m. Anyone interested in participating is asked to call 717-762-8394.
