Jammin’ in the Park Music and Arts Festival on Sept. 1

WAYNESBORO, PA—The Arts Alliance of Greater Waynesboro’s Destination ARTS! presents an all day music and arts festival on Sunday, Sept. 1 from 1 to 7 p.m. at Main Street Park in Waynesboro.

The full day of entertainment and art includes nine area bands playing throughout the day on two stages, including Daniel James and Blue Kollar, The Cicadas, the Destination ARTS! Jazz Jammers, The Flying Matlocks, G@g, Greg and Mare, Mountain Air, The Note Riders, and Pale Barn Ghosts.

Exhibits by area artists and artisans include demonstrations in different disciplines, and a variety of arts and crafts will be available for purchase. The event is family-friendly, with arts-related activities and face painting for kids.

“We hope to make this an annual event, providing a venue for all day entertainment while spotlighting local talent in the arts here in downtown Waynesboro,” said Jonathan Ingels, arts alliance board president.

Two food trucks, Taco Trap House and Taste of Reggae, provide lunch or dinner options for sale in the park. In addition, those over 21 may purchase craft beer by Roy Pitz and local wines by Jan Zell.

The event is a fundraiser and all proceeds from admissions benefit the Arts Alliance of Greater Waynesboro. Admission is $10, and children age 10 and under are free.

Inclement Weather Policy

The Arts Alliance of Greater Waynesboro (AAGW) recognizes the fact that inclement weather can affect the organizations’s ability to be open for business, hold events, and the employees’ and volunteers’ abilities to get to and attend events. The safety of the AAGW’s employees and volunteers is paramount to the organization. If any of the following events occur, Gallery 50, Music Makers, and all events associated with the AAGW are considered cancelled for that day:

(1) The governor declares a weather emergency and asks people to stay off the roads

(2) Waynesboro Area School District cancels school or after-school activities due to inclement weather

(3) Penn State Mont Alto cancels evening classes.

The AAGW will make every attempt to update social media to reflect the cancellation by 3pm for any evening events and by 8:30am for any morning events, but any notification stating one of the (3) events listed above has occurred should be considered notification of the cancellation.
