The Plate Scrapers – Monterey Pass 2023 Summer Concert Series

Monterey Pass Battlefield and Park is proud to host the progressive bluegrass band The Plate Scrapers on June 17, from 1 – 4 pm. Parking is available on site, or just a short walk from the museum. Guests should bring lawn chairs, as this is an outdoor venue.
The Plate Scrapers – Derek Kretzer (banjo), Andrew Jordan (guitar), Robbie Mann (fiddle), Jody Mosser (dobro), and Kevin Johnson (bass) – have been putting in the work and showcasing their love for the genre since 2014. They have since released 3 studio albums, 3 live albums, and have toured relentlessly up and down the east coast and into the midwest. In 2019, they won the Podunk Bluegrass Telefunken Band Contest. They have been featured on WAMU Bluegrass Country Radio, performed as an IBMA Official Showcase artist, and their latest release, Destination Horizon (2020) debuted at #9 on the Bluegrass Album Billboard charts with rave reviews from Bluegrass Today. Monterey Pass is a Civil War battlefield in Blue Ridge Summit, Pennsylvania. It is the site of the Confederate Army’s retreat from Gettysburg, which would become one of the rare night battles of the Civil War. This important and beautiful land provides the backdrop for our 3rd Annual Summer Concert series. In addition to what promises to be a fantastic show, guests can enjoy a Civil War museum, miles of beautiful walking trails, and a hike to Monterey Peak. Antietam Dairy will be on hand, serving their famous, premium ice cream. The concert will take place from 1 – 4 pm on the park grounds, by the museum. www.montereypassbattlefield.org

Inclement Weather Policy

The Arts Alliance of Greater Waynesboro (AAGW) recognizes the fact that inclement weather can affect the organizations’s ability to be open for business, hold events, and the employees’ and volunteers’ abilities to get to and attend events. The safety of the AAGW’s employees and volunteers is paramount to the organization. If any of the following events occur, Gallery 50, Music Makers, and all events associated with the AAGW are considered cancelled for that day:

(1) The governor declares a weather emergency and asks people to stay off the roads

(2) Waynesboro Area School District cancels school or after-school activities due to inclement weather

(3) Penn State Mont Alto cancels evening classes.

The AAGW will make every attempt to update social media to reflect the cancellation by 3pm for any evening events and by 8:30am for any morning events, but any notification stating one of the (3) events listed above has occurred should be considered notification of the cancellation.
