Destination ARTS! in Waynesboro, PA continues September 13 – 15 with another full slate of events.  Featured musicians include the blues-rock duo of Mitch Morrill (vocals and guitar) and Scott Matlock (violin), jazz singer Kerensa Gray (winner of the 20th Annual Billie Holiday Vocal Competition), and folk group “Mountain Air”.  Our first ever pottery demonstration will be offered by Michael McIntyre from Fire Robin Farm  Pottery, along with painting demonstrations from Marjorie Tressler and Donna Bingaman.  Also this weekend the new Destination ARTS! Scavenger Hunt! continues.  “Destination ARTS! Detectives” are invited to solve clues relating to the works of art on display, and prizes will be awarded upon completion of the “scavenger scroll,” which is available in all seven galleries. Successful detectives will be eligible to win one of several grand prizes to be drawn on Sunday, October 27.

But of course the core of of Destination ARTS! is the art itself.  In all, there are over 1,000 pieces of art on display and for sale within a two-block radius in seven art galleries and eight storefronts on Main Street.  More than 100 artists are represented, and the exhibits feature paintings, sculpture, jewelry, ceramics, photography, and fiber arts, all of which make great gift ideas for early holiday shopping.

As visitors walk down Main Street, they will encounter several surprises, such as illustrious artists who are visiting from the past, including the Dutch master Vincent van Gogh and French Impressionist artists Mary Cassatt and Berthe Morisot, all recreated on mannequins by area artists.

An initiative of the non-profit Arts Alliance of Greater Waynesboro (AAGW), Destination ARTS! continues every Friday 5–8 pm, Saturday 11 am– 6 pm, and Sunday 12 pm– 4 pm until October 27. All activities are open to the public and free of charge. More information is available at www.artsalliancegw.org or by emailing [email protected].
