“Destination ARTS!” Gallery Events – Thursday, June 5 – Sunday, June 8

Destination ARTS!” activities continue in Waynesboro with live music every weekend and events and artist demonstrations scheduled at Gallery 50, Gallery 20 East and 42 West ARTS Co-OpThe Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro and The Contemporary School of the Arts & Gallery will also be open with art and pottery for sale and art classes available.  All galleries are open each week from Thursday through Sunday.

Gallery 50

marjorie-tresslerBeginning this week, artist Marjorie Tressler will provide live painting demonstrations inside of Gallery 50 on Thursday afternoons through August. Tressler is an alumnus of The Schuler School of Fine Arts in Baltimore, where she studied with fellow artists such as Ann Didusch Schuler and David Buckley Good. Her award-winning portraits have been featured in several solo shows, and her work is part of a permanent collection at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts.

Tressler’s first in a series of free sessions will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 on the afternoon of Thursday, June 5. Anyone with an interest in learning more about the old masters approach to painting is invited to participate. For more information, please call 717-762-6791.

Wine Down Friday Tonight at Gallery 50!
Come See the New Show and Meet Friends!

WineDoneThe month of June continues with yet another special edition of “Wine Down Friday!” This Friday will feature special events in several locations. Come downtown, try the wine and snacks, meet friends, view the art and enjoy the music! Then stay for dinner at one of the five downtown restaurants, each very different from the rest.

“Destination ARTS!” favorite, Brad Munn, returns to Gallery 50 to entertain another audience during “Wine Down Friday” on June 6. He and his guitar are set to begin performing a blend of bluegrass, country and rock music at 5:00 p.m.

Anyone visiting town this weekend will also have the opportunity to check out the “Surfaces” exhibit, which recently launched inside of Gallery 20 East. The gallery features the work of painter Ben McAfee, ceramic artist Joan Bontempo and Andrew Gehman, who specializes in several forms of creative media. “Surfaces” will be on display through Sunday, June 22.

Gallery 20 East also celebrates “Wine Down Friday.

Over at the Artists Co-Op, “Wine Down Fridays” continue with the music of Patric Schlee beginning at 5:00.

Ceramic Arts center

The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro will be launching their version of “Wine Down Fridays” on June 6. From 5:00 to 7:00, anyone who stops by the center can watch a potter throwing on a wheel. Adults and children will also have an opportunity to create and decorate a clay pendant for no charge.

The Contemporary School of the Arts & Gallery

Donna Bingaman 5 400Denny Bingaman300BarReliefThe oil paintings of Donna Bingaman and wildlife photography of her husband, Denny Bingaman, can be viewed at The Contemporary School of the Arts & Gallery during the entire month of June. To celebrate the start of the new show, a reception has been scheduled for Saturday, June 7 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.

42 West Arts Co-Op

Ed Beard

 

Also on Saturday afternoon – Ed Beard will be at 42 West ARTS to demonstrate the art of pyrography (wood burning) and the various techniques involved with it. A woodworker for 50 years, Beard is a member of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen. He enjoys creating functional art, which shows the natural grain and finish of the wood, and he will be sharing that passion with others between the hours of 2:00 and 4:00.
