Destination ARTS! Performances and Events for July 19-25, 2017

Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Through the Lens & Beyond, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more.  This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

Wednesday, July 19, 2017 – Oil Painting Class:

12 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join Donna Bingaman at her weekly painting class every Wednesday while Patric Schlee provides ambient music designed to inspire! Each student benefits from her personal instruction and 40 years of experience. Each class is $15. Gallery visitors can watch Denny Bingaman as he creates decorative gourds. For more info or to register, call 717-762-8394.

Thursday, July 20, 2017 – Oil Painting Demonstration:

1 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Visitors to Gallery 50 are welcome to see a live demonstration on the learning process of painting from a student’s perspective. While there, browse through the art curated by Marjorie Tressler and find a unique gift!

Friday, July 21, 2017 – Dog Days of Summer Show & Reception:

5 to 8 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. The artists of 42 West Arts will be having an all-members show featuring summer related art with paintings by Donna Bingaman and Janette Koons, photography by Denny Bingaman and Andy Smetzer, jewelry by Kay Ackerman and Jennifer Caldwell, textile arts by Pamela Nelson and Pat Beard, and wood burning by Ed Beard. Friday, July 21, 2017 – Live Music Friday:


5:30 to 8 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Singer-songwriter Brian Forberger brings a unique blend of soulful modern rock with a nod to the classics delivering original music and covers from decades past. Wine and light refreshments will be served. Saturday, July 22, 2017 – Potters’ Wheel Demonstration:

1 to 3 p.m. 42 West Arts Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Rod Meyer and his wife, Karri Benedict, will be working in clay and demonstrating how they create stoneware and decorative Raku pottery. For more information call 717-762-8394.

Rod Meyer and Karri Benedict have been making pottery together for more than 37 years. Their work shows a great respect for fine craftsmanship and their sense of design is strongly influenced by function. They produce a full line of pieces for the home that are lead-free and dishwasher, microwave, and oven safe. They are both juried members of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen and own and operate Willow Creek Pottery.

Saturday, July 22, 2017 – Watercolor Demonstration:

1 to 3 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Janette Koons will be demonstrating how she creates watercolor paintings for visitors to the co-op. For more information, call 717-762-8394.

Koons relies on wildlife and rural life on the farm as inspirations for her paintings. Watercolor is her preferred medium as it allows her the pure spontaneity and freshness that she strives for in her work. She is a member of the Waynesboro Studio Art Club, Franklin County Art Alliance, and the Valley Art Association.

Monday, July 24, 2017 – Oil Painting Class:

1 to 4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA 17268. Marjorie Tressler invites artists of all ability levels to attend her weekly painting class in Gallery 50 that will cover both oil and acrylic mediums. The tables are covered with outstanding examples of pottery, wood work, jewelry, sculpture, cards and even hand made soaps. Truly an experience for the senses – especially with the addition of music performances during “Wine Down Friday.”

The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro (13 South Church
