“Destination ARTS!” Gallery Events – Thursday, January 22 – Sunday, January 25

destination-arts-poster-small1“Destination ARTS!” activities continue in Waynesboro with special events and live music scheduled at Gallery 50, Gallery 20 East and 42 West ARTS Co-Op. The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro and The Contemporary School of the Arts & Gallery will also have art and pottery for sale and art classes available.

Marjorie TresslerMarjorie Tressler returns to Gallery 50 on Thursday afternoon to provide her visitors with a painting demonstration beginning at 1:00 p.m. The fine artist uses techniques created by Jacques Maroger, a painter and curator of the Louvre Museum in Paris during the first half of the 20th century.

WineDone“Wine Down Friday” receptions, featuring wine and light refreshments, are scheduled from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Gallery 50, Gallery 20 East, 42 West ARTS Co-Op and The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro.

WASHS Jazz EnsembleThe Waynesboro Area Senior High School Jazz Ensemble will provide the featured entertainment at Gallery 20 East. The students, under the direction of Chris Ritter, are set to start playing their variety of instruments at 5:30 p.m.

Brad Munn cropGallery 50’s “Wine Down Friday” Entertainment will be the ever popular local favorite, Brad Munn, a local musician and songwriter for more than twenty-five years. Brad will bring his guitar, fiddle and popular Blue Grass and Rock blended style to the gallery for your enjoyment. Come join us for a casual evening with friends, a glass of wine, some snacks in a great setting. Brad will perform from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m.

Patric SchleeDrums300Live music is also planned to begin at 5:30 p.m. in 42 West ARTS Co-Op, where Patric Schlee can be heard on the flute and drums.

Hollis Mentzer will be at 42 West ARTS Co-Op on Saturday to lead a demonstration about nature printing on paper. After maintaining a pottery studio for 20 years, Mentzer developed an interest in papermaking. He now attempts to convey the simplicity and complexity of natural forms using dried and compressed plant specimens. The process can be seen in action between the hours of 1:00 and 3:00 p.m.

DrewAdamsAfter making his much-anticipated “Destination ARTS!” debut in Center Square last August, Drew Adams returns to Downtown Waynesboro for a special performance in Gallery 20 East on Sunday afternoon. A founding member of the band, Good for Nothing (later Dimestore Profit), Adams has since gone on to play shows throughout the region as a member of the Drew Adams Project and On Tap. This weekend, he’ll be at the microphone from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

These performances are supported in part by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.

Art of Rubbings Waynesboro ages 8-11 flyerThe Art of Textures Classes – with artists David F. Heatwole.
Students will learn how to make rubbings from various man-made and natural textured objects. Students will also make their own “rubbing plate” that can be used repeatedly for similar works of art. All supplies and materials are provided. Just wear old clothes and plan to make ART! David Heatwole is an 11th generation artisan who works from his home in Martinsburg, WV. This class is free of charge thanks to our generous sponsors.
