Waynesboro, PA: Destination ARTS! activities continue in Waynesboro, PA with art exhibits and special events scheduled at Gallery 50, 42 West ARTS Co-Op, Through the Lens & Beyond, and the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro. The galleries feature oil paintings, watercolors, pottery, sculptures, jewelry, photographs, furniture, and more. This weekend, they will be open on Thursday from 1 to 4 p.m. (Gallery 50 and 42 West ARTS Co-Op only), Friday from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday from 12 to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.
Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017 – Gourd Art Demonstration:
12:30-2:30 p.m. 42 West ARTS Co-Op – 42 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Nature enthusiast Denny Bingaman will demonstrate his process of making decorative gourds. Visitors will be shown his techniques of carving, burning, and dyeing the gourds. For more information, contact the co-op at 717-762-8394.
Wednesday, Jan. 4, 2017 – Writers Forum:
5-7 p.m. 32 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Writers of all genres are welcome to join the monthly Writer’s Forum. Participants will share written works written around the theme of “Resolutions made or broken” or “Plans you are excited about”. The Writers Forum meets on the first Wednesday of each month to share contributions that usually pertain to a selected subject. After the initial ‘round and round’ contributors can share works on other subjects – be it prose, memoirs, or story-telling. Visitors are welcome as well as ideas for future meetings.
Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017 – Oil Painting Demonstration:
2-4 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Curator and director Marjorie Tressler will be conducting an oil painting demonstration featuring a large landscape. For more information, call 717-655-2915.
Tressler teaches art locally and has conducted classes at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts, where her portraits were featured in a solo show in 1993. She is a former student of the Schuler School of Fine Arts and has studied with several nationally known and prominent local artists over the last 35 years. Tressler has been Gallery 50’s lead curator and director since 2013.
Friday, Jan. 6, 2017 – Wine Down Friday:
5:30-8 p.m. Gallery 50 – 50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Wayne Driscoll, a member of the band Lucky Punk, will be playing in Gallery 50 on Friday. Driscoll will be bringing his bold and energetic approach to the electric guitar. His performances include a variety of original songs and classic covers with a unique spin. Friday, Jan. 6, 2017 – Musical Demonstration:

Items for sale include instruments, amps, AV equipment, cds, guitar picks and strings, and more! There will also be a “Jam Area” to try out instruments before you buy. Rod Meyer and Karri Benedict have been making pottery together for more than 37 years. Their work shows a great respect for fine craftsmanship and their sense of design is strongly influenced by function. They produce a full line of pieces for the home that are lead-free and dishwasher, microwave, and oven safe. They are both juried members of the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen and own and operate Willow Creek Pottery.

The group is open to all artists and those passionate about the arts. Monday, Jan. 9, 2017 – Songwriters’ Workshop:
6:30 p.m. Music Makers – 46 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268. Join members of the Songwriters’ Workshop for their monthly meeting as they share their latest efforts written around the theme of “E Harmony.” For more information, contact Jonathan Ingels at [email protected].
Participants are encouraged to write a song, lyric, or instrumental piece that is inspired by that month’s theme. All genres are welcome and participants share their results, process, feedback with one another. Once a quarter, the group performs their songs for the public.

Gallery 50’s (50 West Main Street, Waynesboro, PA 17268) Artwork by local and regional artists is on display and for sale. The walls are filled with fine art paintings in beautiful frames. The tables are covered with outstanding examples of pottery, wood work, jewelry, sculpture, cards and even hand made soaps. Truly an experience for the senses – especially with the addition of music performances during “Wine Down Friday.”
