The Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro is offering a “Wild About Stripes” Pottery Workshop for Kids on Saturday, June 14, from 1 to 3 PM at the Center, 13 South Church Street, Waynesboro. The workshop is designed for kids, ages 5 and up, and costs $25 per student. Kids will learn the basics of pottery making and will decorate small pots with zebra stripes using paper resist techniques in a variety of colors.
The instructor for the Wild about Stripes Workshop is Nickole Bricker of Waynesboro. Bricker holds an Associates degree in graphic design from Carrington College of California and currently works as a teaching assistant at the Waynesboro Area Middle School. She began making her own pottery in 2007 after taking the Center’s Introduction to Ceramics class. After completing the class, she set up a small pottery studio at her home where she continues to create functional mugs, bowls and crocks, often using leaf impressions as decorations. Bricker’s previous experience teaching pottery to kids includes the Adventures in Learning program at Penn State Mont Alto, the summer camp program at the Fort Ritchie Community Center and numerous hands-on workshops at the Ceramic Arts Center of Waynesboro.
