“The Velveteen Rabbit” by Trinity Players

TRINITY PLAYERS TO PRESENT “THE VELVETEEN RABBIT”
DURING FINAL WEEKEND OF APRIL

The Trinity Players are currently preparing to bring their next production to the stage of Harbaugh Hall inside of Waynesboro’s Trinity United Church of Christ.

VelveteenRabbitAdapted from Margery Williams’ 1922 classic children’s story, “The Velveteen Rabbit: The Musical” brings the book to life in a two-act play about love, loss and self-esteem, while remaining faithful to the spirit of Williams’ original tale. “The Velveteen Rabbit” tells the story of a stuffed toy rabbit who longs to be made “real” through the magic of a little boy’s enduring love. Though the most modest toy in the nursery, the rabbit learns about the joys and pain of becoming “real.”

Performances of the show have been scheduled for Friday, April 24 at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, April 25 at 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. and Sunday, April 26 at 2:00 p.m.

Beginning on Monday, April 13, tickets will be sold inside the doors off the rear parking lot of the church, located at 30 West North Street, on Monday through Thursday from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. Adult tickets are $10.00 each, and tickets for children under the age of 12 are $5.00. All tickets are general admission.

The production is directed by Carol Mowen with support from musical director, Debra Hollen, and technical director, Nick Mowen. Dave Wolf is the show’s accompanist, and Karen Adams is the stage manager. Kay Yaukey leads the costume team with support from parents and volunteers. The cast includes children as young as the age of four, as well as adults from communities such as Waynesboro, Shippensburg and Greencastle.

Brad Clever, local artist, will showcase his artwork at Destination ARTS!, Gallery 50

Brad Clever Showcase and Reception In Gallery 50

The inauguration of Governor Tom Wolfe included a special exhibit at the State Museum of Pennsylvania in Harrisburg, featuring artists from Pennsylvania’s history and current works of talented artists from around the state.  Local artist Brad Clever’s oil painting “The Dressing Gown,” was part of that exhibition.

Submissions for potential inclusion were by special invitation.  “It was a real honor for us to be asked to submit art for possible inclusion in this exhibit.  To have one of our submissions accepted was very exciting,” said Andrew Sussman, Board President and Founder of the Arts Alliance of Greater Waynesboro and Destination ARTS! “Only 55 artists were featured from around the state, including the iconic ones such as Wyeth, Eakins and Warhol and this was a great acknowledgement of Mr. Clever’s talent!”

Brad Clever said he was honored to have been asked to participate in this exhibition and most of all to have his painting hang beside the Pennsylvania masters of the past 250 years.  He has been painting still life themes for over 25 years and has gained national recognition in galleries spanning the country since the early 1980s.

Brad CleverMr. Clever has affiliations with several major galleries around the country and he has won a number of awards for his work, including the 2013 Best of Show at the Cumberland Valley Artists Exhibition at the Washington County Museum of Fine Arts.  His work has also been featured in “American Artist” and “The Artists Magazine”.  Clever retired in 2001 after 32 years of service as Art Director from The Beistle Co. a maker of seasonal paper decorations.  He has a BFA from the Virginia Commonwealth University with a major in Communication Arts and Graphic Design.

Destination ARTS! Gallery 50, curator, Marjorie Tressler said “The detail and quality in Brad’s work is superb.  Each time I view a piece of his work I always find a new detail.”  Ms. Tressler indicated the exhibit will continue to be on display during regular Destination ARTS! hours through mid-June.  Brad Clever’s paintings have been featured in Gallery 50, 50 W. Main St., Waynesboro, PA since the inception of Destination ARTS! in July 2013.
